May I ask a question about moderation?

Why delete threads rather than lock them? Why not let people own up to what they post? I know that I hate having my posts deleted. I will always own up to what ever I say no matter how "batshit crazy" I may seem to be at the time. Seriously, it's not as "somebody" hasn't seen the post and saved it.

I think you should have let the 2 box it out, then maybe half of your headaches would have gone away.

Okay maybe not.

NO. Cause if you do that this will load slower than an animation in SL on a Sunday afternoon with 80,000+ online.
(assumes my computer)

The moderator has already answered this but I will repeat in plain English. All messages in a threaded post are accessed via a database. The more replies the bigger the database. So even if there are posts with 1 or no replies all posts suddenly take the space of a database of number of posts times largest number of replies. 25 posts of varying sizes and one of them with 24 responses would create a data record 25 by 25 or 625 units large. Where one unit is the size of the data record needed to store just one post if all posts had no replies. Again in plain English, that is 625 places to search each time you are looking for the word say BEACH. Now if you delete the thread with 25 posts leaving all threads with 10 posts or less you will have less to search. Lets say the other 24 posts were 9 responses or less for a total of 10 or less posts per thread. That means you need only search 24 records of 10 units each or 240 units to find the word BEACH. Your search is completed in 240 / 625 the time of the previous search or 38.4 % of the time required for the previous search. And since we all want to have fun on SL and not spend days searching for things that is a nice improvement. Plus it makes answers more timely to current trends in SL and the current version of the Snapzilla being discussed.

Just my thoughts.

It was referencing the deletion of drama, not a technical question.

Good answer though.

I don't know what your set limit is, but I know a couple of forums which kill any threads that reach 1,000 posts. Personally, I wouldn't blink if a soft limit was set at 500 either. Big threads tend to get very unwieldly anyway.
