I don't want to keep it associated directly with Second Life at all - that is more of the reason for the name change than the SL name issue.

I liked it too - but the feedback was it was too evocative of the Sims. Truth be told, I really want something that is a stand alone, unique name, like Simulocity or Snapzilla. I just can't seem to find one I like. I am most likely going with VLU, but I am still running some ideas through my mind to see what I can come up with.

I like Metazens for several reasons.

1) It's inclusive. If you have an account at Metazens, you're a Metazen.

2) It's catchy and efficient in expressing its purpose. Pixel Lives is too abstract. VLUniverse is unclear for anyone who doesn't know what "VL" is. Simulocity isn't too bad, but I agree with Cris that it recalls "The Sims" too much. And everybody knows you can only make pizza over there.

3. It has legs. The name is vague enough that you aren't limiting yourself to one type of site, but unusual enough to stay interesting. It's also very specific (Metazen, manage our metalives).

Just my $0.2

Edit: One more thing. 'Metazens' has a pleasing newspaper-y ring to it. It's classy.

I'm fairly neutral towards all three of these options. Doe some reason, I find "Simulocity" oddly appealing, then again...I dunno. Kinda think you should steer clear of the word "sim", not just because that's what SL calls its blocks of server space, but also because it brings to mind videogames.

On the other hand, "Simulacrum" seems perfect to me, thought it looks like that's taken as a domain name. Or at least fallen victim to squatters. Maybe "Homunculus"? Probably the same problem.

I guess out of the three in the poll I like Metazens the best.
