I give a tremendous amount of leeway regarding behavior in these forums, and do not ask for much from you. However, one thing that I am tired of seeing is random spurts of necroposting. It is disruptive to the forums, adds extra work for me, and quite bluntly, is really fucking annoying and childish. Continued necroposting will result in suspension and ultimate banning from the forums.

Necroposting is defined quite clearly as purposely bumping threads that have not had any activity in them for a long period just to make them resurface. It is quite obvious when it is being done - if someone legitimately bumps an old thread, that is one thing. This is a pattern of disruptive behavior.

Some of the Necro's definately feel malicious. Some just feel mischievous, which isn't too bad but a touch annoying and sometimes humorous. That's all I have to say on the matter, I try not to comment on forum policy much these days because... ya know. I sympathize in that it can be a PITA at times.

And what exactly is the problem with adding new points of view or information to older threads?

If a thread hasn't been posted in for 3 weeks, would it be better that someone starts a new thread? That would just clutter the forums with double threads, not?

That's not what the gripe is over. The gripe is over bumping a thread that hasn't been posted to in six months just to be irritating.

Ah, alright. In that case, apologies.

It's just that the last thread I read before this one, someone got called a necroposter because they replied to a post from 15th May. -_- So figured it was concerning those situations.

As I moved down the list of new posts I noticed the ones bumping year old topics and saw what it is about.

Psyke is being an asshole.

I have limited time in the morning to get caught up on posts, and it's extremely irritating to pull up a thread, such as a note addressed to SCers, and find out it's simply his necroposting a hoary old thread for amusement sake, not because any new information is being added.

Perhaps when I've had a morning cup of coffee I'll be inclined to view that kind of prank more charitibly, but right now I'd just as soon Cris ban him from the forum.

But Psyke wasn't the only person doing it today (looking at you Charlemagne) nor is he the only person to do it in general.

I don't really think it's wise to antagonize Cris on it though but then again you're pretty dickish all around.

But please continue filling up the forums with 126 posts of silly uses of the word vagina.... However do not...

make a comment on Friends Lists which is obviously no longer a relevant issue in SL. And never make a humorous post about necro-posting just once.

"Vagina" posts are apparently far less annoying and much better served before coffee.
