Business: MagoTek Industries | Views on SLShopper ads are incremented when looking at your own ad As title suggests. Refreshing the page on your own ad increments the views value. I have 9 views on my first ad just from trying to set up the pictures. Would it be possible (if logged into SLU) to not increment the views if the viewer and ad owner are the same? I'm not worried about people artificially pimping their own ads, but of accidentally skewing metrics on my own, through this. |

Business: ANOmations Blog Entries: 16 XBOX Leaderboard: 27th | I have turned on a setting in the software that will block being able to increment a view on an ad more than one time in any 24 hour period, based on IP. This will not prevent you from making you ad view go up by one if you view your own ad, but it won't cause it to keep incrementing - you can test it by hitting refresh after you enter. This will also prevent gaming of the view counts on ads. In order to reprogram the logic to not increment views at all for your own ads would take some significant rewriting because of the point at which the view update occurs in the code. At this time, it is not something I am going to undertake. Preventing incrementing your ad more than onceI think is a reasonable compromise for the time being. BTW, if you just want to see how often your ads have been viewed without going into the ad, you can click on "My Ads" in the upper left corner. The list of your ads contains the view count for each. |

Business: Ookami Ningen | :zorena: does happy panda dance. I do view mine and go into edit a lot on them because I use the writeup I use here on other forums and blogs. Thanks for the tips about view ads. |

Business: Ookami Ningen | Actually views are totally broken now on ads. I just had 4 different friends view my new ad to see and it still shows 1 view. I decided to view a few of other people's ads. It didn't change. |

Business: MagoTek Industries | hmm. Seems to be working for me. I have 38 views and they're certainly not all my doing. |

Business: Ookami Ningen | Those may have been views before the change. I just tried again with one of Cris's listings and a couple others. No increment on views. I would have tried yours but I couldn't find them. |
