New Yacht I'm building

I'm working on a new yacht. I haven't made one in years.

I've started with the interior, usually I start with the hull shape but I've decided to try something new. This is the first room, the main saloon. This is the geometry with all of the light information baked to texture. Next step is to begin texturing. The last photo shows the very beginning stages of texturing.

If anyone is experienced with animating furniture and would like to team up on this project please IM me, Brookston Holiday, in world.

This looks really good! I visited it in SL too and the materials look fantastic. The only thing is that the ceiling is a bit low (for SL standards) and the default camera clips into it when I walk around.

Usually a ceiling height of 2.30m - 2.50m is enough, everything else totally makes the proportions distorted.
The people would not have these problems if they did not make their avatars 2.50m tall... But I not gonna start another discussion about avatar proportions and the SL camera.

My avatar is 1.90m tall I using heels and the ceiling of my house is 2.40 and I never clip through the roof with my cam.

My avatar is actually shorter than yours. It really depends on how close you zoom your third person camera. By clipping I didn't mean actually phasing through the ceiling. The physics proxy stops that. Instead the camera tend to scrape along the ceiling and bump around.

Thanks for all the comments guys! I wish I had more time to work on it. The textures for the galley are finished, I have to make the lower LOD's and physics shape now.

As far as the ceiling goes. I totally agree it is much shorter than most SL builds. I wanted to make it as close to real world proportions as possible. To try and help navigate, I scripted a very simple HUD that moves the camera so it is looking over your shoulder rather than down at the top of your head. It really helps it feel less claustrophobic inside, and is included.

Bathroom is finished

I've finished the bathroom. It is oddly shaped because it fits in the bow of the yacht hull. These shots were taken at sunset and midnight to show off the lighting.

I should have more time for working on this now and plan to finish soon!

The water is a 64 frame animation. The texture, normal map, and specular map are all animated. Still photos don't really do it justice.

Holy crap! THAT is a great bathroom. I happened to be looking at yachts lately and have been so dissatisfied with what I've seen offered for jacuzzi/bath areas on the builds.

I have to agree with Aemeth, this is really pushing the envelope. Have you any hint of what the finished LI might be?

LI should be in the 250-300 range. I'd be surprised if I have to go above 300.

This is the first really large build I'm doing completely in mesh. The land impact is around 10-15% compared to when I was using prims or sculpties.

Started texturing the bridge. The hull is mostly complete, save for some fittings and furniture. Getting close.

thats looking way sexier than the pelorus bri and i had. iirc the boat was selling for around $200usd, and i spent a month afterward aligning seemingly thousands of prims and textures.

I remember when the Pelorus came out. My buddy Chandon Dollinger built it and I made fun of him for how sloppy some of his alignment was.

yeah, chandon. i dont think we gave him any $ for the boat. iirc he needed our island to even rez the entire build to finish it, and he ended up giving us the boat.

but yeah, it was a heap of work getting that thing into a condition i was happy with.

I've seen you on ADITI working on this. If I may ask, what will the final physics weight be?

That's a bit of secret sauce you're asking for . . .

It will depend on if it is driving around or if it is sitting still.
