There must be better headlines than that.
It was deliberate.

Especially since according to the article, when the planet's GMF turns off it lets solar wind into the planet, not out of it.

Bad job. Double-entendre headlines only win points if they still convey the facts accurately.

So I subbed to 115+ or so channels on Youtube. Subscription page tends to have 15-25 or so uploads per day. Youtube did something last night that broke all that, and would only show 8 uploads per day.

The only way I have found to fix this is to unsub/resub to all the channels. Which does work. And is a pain. The only trouble is it seems you can only subscribe to a certain number of channels at once, so yeah...

I even set up an RSS feed and that would show them all, though not as user friendly.

Stop fucking with things Youtube ffs!

Sorry, but Google is full of programmers. It's their job to fuck with things, else they would be unemployed. I'm currently annoyed with the change to their news page. I liked the previous version better, but there's no option to go back.

A better approach is versions that don't change much once finished, and you don't have to upgrade if you don't want to. I was on Microsoft Office '97 until I upgraded to 2010, and I'm still on 2010. Change for the sake of change isn't always a good thing.

Truth. (And I've been paid to bash semi-randomly on keyboards for some years now)

In Google's case, I've simply curtailed their involvement with me - no active YouTube account[1], and GMail through IMAP only, with search ably provided for by DDG and ixQuick/StartPage, with none of Google's omnipresent tracking.

[1] I did have one, when it was provided by YouTube - but Google then tried to unify accounts, and munged things to the point I couldn't actually access it. I took that as my cue to just leave it rest.

Everything can fly. At least once.

Some things really can't land well at all though.

In related news:

Nanomaterials help spiders spin the toughest stuff

Quote:
The research team, led by Professor Nicola Pugno at the University of Trento, Italy, succeeded in having their spiders produce silk with up to three times the strength and ten times the toughness of the regular material.

To do this, the team exposed three different spider species to water dispersions containing carbon nanotubes or graphene.
No word if the spiders were also radioactive.
