Looking for a good tablet!

Hey everyone!
I've been recently searching around the net for some tablets and there are sooo many that i'm not sure which one to pick.
I'm looking for a tablet that will make accessing my e-mail quick and easy...it will let me have access to things such as facebook and twitter...allow me to surf the internet when i'm in the wifi range. And maybe be able to print documents from the tablet? The tablet shouldn't be big...as i'm looking to have it replace my very big and heavy laptop when i'm on the move. And preferably it's fast when you turn it on...

I'm just completly confused with what tablet i should get...whats your advice?

Thanks in advance!

In would recommend the Asus Transformer tablets. I believe there are 3 versions now. All are excellent and reasonably priced.
They use the Android OS and can do everything that you are looking to do. All you will need to do is DL whatever app you need for the task at hand...including printing to a wifi printer.

yeah totally the Asus transformer. I don't want to miss mine. The new transformer prime is nice but as a casual user you won't need all that power. I would recommend to go for a used asus transformer TF101 on the bay or somewhere. Now that the follow-up is out they tend to get really cheaper.

add: Also the transformer have a docking station that turns your tablet into a touch capable netbook with keyboard, trackpad and extra battery for 9 more hours of batterytime

If you need it now, I second or third the original Transformer (TF101)... it's still an awesome tablet but it's no longer "the latest" so you may be able to get a deal on it. I had one briefly pass through my paws (setting it up for a friend) and it was amazing.

Otherwise, the Google Nexus tablet is coming out soon.

You might want to wait until the Windows 8 Tablets come out, either it will be crap or good, but it might nonetheless drive the prices down a bit.

Not if Microsoft is charging OEMs $85 for the Windows 8 license. That's more than 1/3 the price of a Kindle Fire, just for the OS license.

Well rumour is that Nokia is preparing a 200$ W8 tablet. Dell is busy on it too.

But they shouldn't be out before November at the earliest.

How about the Samsung Galaxy tablet? I hear it is a pretty good tablet and can be useful.

And I'm looking to get a tablet somewhere around mid august and/or begining september...I really need a tablet before university starts again...my laptop is 18kg and its very heavy including my books which are also a good deal of weight.

I loves my ipad and would not want to be without it ....but if I were to go back to android I would have the transformer prime (at the time the only alternative I considered to the ipad3) or I am feeling the love at the moment for the Asus Padfone. I have not played with one in person but I really like the concept of phone /tablet/ netbook setup all in one mix and match package.

Samsung has been laggardly in their upgrades for the Galaxy line. Make sure it's running the latest version (Android 4 "Ice Cream Sandwich").

Also, are you getting wifi only or 4G//LTE?
I got the latter and ended up taking it of the data plan as it didn't prove a practical as I'd thought to have it on, and I missed my grandfathered data plan. I've been using the tab wifi-only, which is fine--except I recently found out that I now have no way to restore to factory settings, since the tab no longer GA a phone number for the activation call.
So going forward I would only get the wifi-only tab. Just my 2c USD

I am inseparable from my iPad, but if you go the iPad route a word of warning: splurge on the 32gb or 64gb version. Retina-ready apps are HUGE, and my 16gb iPad 3 is perpetually out of available storage space.

I held the original Tab in my hands thanks to a friend, I really liked the feel. It feels exactly like my phone, except bigger (I have the Samsung Galaxy S, the original version), so I guess it is the same as my phone...

...Anyways, I keep looking at 7 inch tablets, and always end up going back to look at the new Samsung Tab 2, which I think is 250 clams and runs android 4.0 (the shiniest, happiest android)
