It seems the whining about the browser ballot screen that Microsoft has added to Windows 7 in Europe is not limited to the usual suspect, Opera. Although not an official statement, a member of the Mozilla organization is complaining that as designed, the new ballot screen gives an unfair advantage not to Microsoft, but to Apple, as Safari appears as the first option. Her argument is that users typically choose the first option because they assume it is the best option, and that the Safari browser on the Windows platform does not represent what users choose for a Windows browser in real world use.

Oh, phppppt on this. The users who are too lazy to browse one menu choice down for a browser are the same ones who leave IE as a default. It's whining like this that cheapens valid complaints against Microsoft.

Would be easy for them to script the menu to randomize the choices for each view. But I agree with Liona on this, there are better things to gripe about then who comes first on a list.

Anyway, who these days doesn't have 3 or more web browsers on their computer?
