Description:
Something super simple I came up with tonight when I ended up with three extra people to feed and the only meat I had to work with was a half a package of sliced bacon and three very thin cuts of chuck roll. Not enough of the steak to just give each person (6 eating today) a steak and some sides and that type of steak isn't good by itself anyway, too thin.
Other: Ingredients:
Time:
15 minutes
Difficulty:
Easy
Serving Size:
6
  1. Lettuce
  2. Tomatoes
  3. Whatever other raw veggies you like
  4. Shredded cheese
  5. Your favorite salad dressing
  6. A half a pound or so of cheap thin cut beef
  7. A half a pound of sliced bacon
  8. Your favorite marinate mix
Preparation:
  1. Cut the steaks into strips and cut the bacon slices into small bits. I used kitchen scissors to cut it all up, it's easier and faster.
  2. Marinate just the steak in whatever marinate you prefer. Today I used worchester sauce, a clove of garlic, and sprinkled in a little chili powder, salt, pepper, and rosemary and just let it sit in that for half an hour.
Instructions:
  1. Cut up all the stuff you like in salad. I happened to have only a head of lettuce, a couple of tomatoes and some monterey jack cheese. I would have liked to have some other veggies to drop in, but I'm working with what was in my fridge tonight.
  2. Cook the chopped up bacon and drain off the grease, then in the same skillet cook up the strips of steak.
  3. Set out all the ingredients with a couple of dressing selections and let your family fix their salads the way they like, topping them with the strips of steak and crumbled bacon and shredded cheese.
  4. They're happy, it's delicious, and, not counting the marinating time, with all the chopping, it takes about 15 minutes.
  5. ETA: Oh and I served it with a pile of buttered and warmed flour tortillas. They're a good filler for a meal.
