My Mood: SL Join Date: October 2004 Blog Entries: 1 | Oh, additionally Adam surprised me with something he had been working on in secret and revamped the iyetra.com - episodic fiction series website for me. I'd been meaning to do it from the start but I was occupied with actually working on the books, but I think it looks significantly better this time around. |

| Grabbed the book on Amazon for $2.99 and sat in the car at McDonalds, reading it all the way through over an hour or two. One thing really stood out for me: you're writing with a much greater sense of confidence, almost as if you wrote it in one sitting. This has to be your strongest book yet, almost as if you've graduated and are now at a professional level of writing. As usual, I couldn't put it down (well, OK, once - because I got hungry and drove to a REAL restaurant for dinner, where again I sat for an hour, reading the book). |

![]() Actually I've been a "professional" — if that means someone making a living at it, I guess — writer for years. Admittedly not with fiction/fantasy/sci-fi, this is my first foray into that on a pro level, but I've had full time positions at several magazines and freelanced most of my time in New York. I do get what you mean though, I think that each one has improved. That's hopefully not to say that the ones prior were shit, but I do think that I've been making them better progressively. I think probably part of that is the plot itself, it's gotten to the point where there's enough backstory established that I'm able to handle stuff in the moment instead of slugging through so much ground work. Fun trivia though, books one through four make up almost 117k words, and if it were on paper it'd be over 460 pages long. | |

| I guess I should have qualified that for fiction writing; I know you're a professional writer but not in the story-telling sense. I think you're at the level where you can get published and successfully compete for shelf space at a bookstore. Its not fanfic, that's for sure Last edited by Soen Eber; 06-01-2011 at 07:03 PM. My Mood: SL Join Date: October 2004 Blog Entries: 1 | /me falls over. Book 05 (as yet un-subtitled) has been sent off to be edited. I expect that it will be uploaded and available sometime mid/late May — actually I am about 98% confident that it will be on sale at least by the end of the month. My break went on a little bit longer than I intended, but I'm really happy with this one. |

| Well, so much for having a productive day today... ETA: Done, now. In one sitting as usual. There were a couple sections when X was sneaking around in the air vents in Y that were a bit confusing (massive edit massacre?) but it was otherwise a very fast and exciting read. I also think there was too much given away when talking about a certain mysterious entity (it would have been more fun for the reader to speculate) but that's just personal opinion and not a criticism. This is also entirely a thriller - characterizations are solid with some dimension to them, but this is more of a summer action movie style rather than Oscar bait. No weepies or deep introspection or Bergmanesque montages of soulful Swedes staring out of kitchen windows at birch trees and children playing at the pond until their coffee gets cold, inwardly questioning the banality of their solid and carefully planned middle class existence. 4 & 1/2 stars and a huge thumbs up. My Mood: SL Join Date: October 2004 Blog Entries: 1 | If you got it and like them (especially Book 01) it's enormously helpful if you leave a review (especially if you bought it on Amazon). I can really use them especially as certain troublemakers have a habit of monkeying around leaving negative reviews. It hugely helps my visibility in search results which helps me finding new readers. |
