| Cafeteria Project Hello all. I am new to things here and in SL. I am currently working on a cafeteria for my school's island. For the cafeteria, I have been asked to make it so that it is somewhat of an educational experience for healthy eating. One of the things I am attempting to do is to make the food sources an interactive game where on can go through the "lunch line" and pick from a variety of foods and then go through a cash register which will then give an analysis of the healthy qualities of your food sources. This is quite honestly the first thing I have ever done in SL, and is in fact what brought me here so I am a complete noob. I have been teaching myself to script and design, and the building aspects of this I should be able to accomplish. However, in terms of putting this together in a game type format I don't even know where to begin. One question I do have regarding building tho... is it possible, using basic prims, to cut into and out of a prim and leave a space for say, some food items in a table top, much like you'd find at any cafeteria, or will this have to be sculpeted. I have to imagine it is possible using the build system in SL, but within the confines of the basic build screen i have not been able to surmise how. i.e - ![]() Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly, greatly appreciated. |

| exp(ln(Gearhead)) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You need to think differently. What I'd suggest: 1. Participant picks up a plate and 'wears" it on his hand. 2. Create the cafeteria display (like your pic) where the participant can click on the food item to put it on his plate. 3. (to keep things simple) when the participant clicks on the food item the food item messages the plate and the plate displays what was selected as text. 4. At the checkout, the plate can do all the math upon signal from clicking on the cash register (which messages the plate to trigger the calculations). Make sure you include the avatar's name in the communications (not on channel 0, so that it stays invisible) so that the correct plate responds. |

| You need someone to demonstrate some basics to kick start your building, look for building classes in 'Events - Education', I learned so much in those. IM me in world and I will give you a bit of a demo of what sort of things can be done. Also check out the 'Ivory Tower of Prims' in world and Mermaid Diaries: Natalia Zelmanov's Second Life Adventures for some great tutorials... Cat x |
