Fab Pads!

Call me bonkers but I am seriously thinking of opening up shop again. I've thought about it before but this time I am even looking at land...Lord help me!

Anyhow it will be called Fab Pads I think. Despite Carth insisting that the name sounds like a sanitary product I think it is memorable I have been beavering away, (beaver and sanitary in the same post... not good Humps not good ) and I have three new builds coming together.

If I am going to do this I want all new stuffs and particularly builds that I am as close to happy with as I ever am. (I am sure that makes sense to most creators .... I never believe it is quite good enough). These builds have had more breakdowns than Susan Boyle in a effort to get them as near as dammit to something credible to sell.

The first build is The White Villa:
front view

rear view

A BBQ area that made me smile so I am leaving it in

Some furinture to compliment the build (not sure if it is staying)

The Obligatory Sunset Shot

The second build is the Gatehouse Lodge and the third is The Orangery (a conservatory type thingy) but I have not taken pics of those yet ....will add them as I do.

Any comments, suggestions or the revocation of my land buying rights will be most welcome

Just took pics of Gatehouse Lodge (which is prolly my fave at the moment). Only trouble is that I will have to reduce prim count on this somehow as it is stupidly high atm.

I adore your builds Humps, but the high prim count excludes me from ever using one. /me cries.

I just love the detail you go into and the fact that each time I see your work it gets better and better.

Thanks Willow xxx I really appreciate your comments and support .... I wish I could get over this lack of confidence in my own work but I suppose that is the same for most creators. I see other peoples work and it just looks amazing in comparison to my own.

As for the prim counts .... guilty as charged I can't help it. I am dreading going back to the gatehouse because I know I have to prune it but I hate to do it! I like detail The villa however is not too bad (for me anyway) weighing in at 250 without furniture. I surprised myself. The gatehouse is almost double that which made even me gulp

Thanks again xx

Like Tegan I am a prefab addict, I like aspects of both these builds, and genuinely want to buy the first one. It would suit furniture I have so well. Plsputonsalenowthx.

I do have to agree with Carth though about the sanitary towel thing ... still, whatever gets people remembering your name is a good thing!

I've been getting the itch to buy some new land lately, something coastal. White, green, and a dark wood is one of my favorite combinations and that first house would make a very serene waterfront home, nestled in the center of a tropical garden...

This could get expensive.

Too bad you're not a mouse.. then they could be "mouse pads"

That white one would also make a fine starting point for a shop. The architecture reminds me of a number of posh, high end clothing and hair boutique type places..

but then I look at most buildings in terms of how good they'd be for a shop.

Thanks everyone I really appreciate it.

Luc ..... my name is indeed Lord HUmphrey but I hate it! I chose it when I joined and chose stupidly, not realising I would be stuck with it for eternity. It is so affected and I cringe when people who don't know me call me Lord. Of course everyone who does know me calls me Humps or Humpy anyway which is much nicer

Tya .... no it is not a scuplted rail. I assume you mean the balustrade on the gatehouse ... just a normal alpha tex I made from a photo topped and tailed with a prim to make it appear more solid. With the exception of the furniture in the villa I did not use any scupties.

I can't wait to walk around those builds and a get a close look at the details that don't get pruned.

As you well know, I'm also prone to fits of insecurity concerning the quality of my work. So keep posting photos of your projects here on SLU so we can heap you with praise and adulation -- all of it well deserved and sincere.

Well things are moving at some pace now. After deciding to do this I thought I had better get on with it before I started changing my mind again. I have gotten myself a Homestead Island from Wildefire which will do very nicely as the home for Fab Pads.

I looked at a lot of land trying to make my mind up. Commercial land on an estate and put the builds in a rez vendor or a blob of mainland both of which I had concerns with ..... after all you can't control what neighbours you will get and what they do with their land. I suppose after having my own full prim islands last time I had a business it kind of spoils you ... the control and the lack of worry about what next door might be doing is worth a lot. Soooo a homestead seemed like the best option. Plenty of space and privacy, avatar restrictions not a problem because even last time with the full prim sims I never had over twenty av's shopping for houses or furniture at any one time. So that is how I jumped and very excited I am too now it is all happening!

I have made a start on the store front .... basically just a walkthrough where you can see pics of the various builds and can teleport to each. I intend that the individual builds will be dotted around the island.....standard fare really for house sellers.

Of course now I have my work cut out getting a few more builds produced so that I have enough variety and tweaking the ones I have done already to get them as near perfect as I can. Still now I have the land I have the motivation to do it rather than leave things sat in my inventory.

Here are a couple of pic's of the progress on the storefront

and a closeup ....

.....and now it has a roof Yayyyy!

Actually it has had three roofs but this one is the one I settled with. It looks better closer up. Have left the store alone for a while this evening and have started to put a few builds out ready to do last minute tweaks before I pack em in rez boxes. Am really pleased with how it is all starting to come together.

Anyway .... the roof:

hey Aisuru ....... nearly I am about 99% done but the other 1% keeps stealing percentage points from its big brother

I am very nearly there though in reality .... I just want it to be as good as I can make it but do realise it will never be 'quite good enough' so I need to just get on and open the bloody thing. I am working to complete a build that I am particularly proud of at the moment and once that is done I think I need to shrug my shoulders and say enough already and throw a party

Hunty you are very kind ..... actually only the white villa survived from the builds above (and teh store build) the Gatehouse Lodge was sent to trial, found guilty of excessive prim hogging and duly excecuted for that most heinous of crimes

Hopes for some little cottagey type builds that maybe don't have many prims (say under 100?)
