That’s a very nice tree, Miriel.
I’m looking for something that would look nice sticking out from the side of a steep embankment.

Lovely. I can't wait, though I'll obviously have to.

That's good news, I love foliage in general and the first thing I noticed on your sim when I stepped outside the store where the beautifull trees and that grass that is absolutely gorgeous ( I actually edited to see where you had bought them , thats when I thought you should sell them too)

how many prims is it? Are you using sculpts, or standard prims. Something like a tree can become very primmy, very quickly, and if you're planning to sell it, it's not likely to sell so well at 200+ prims.

There is currently a desperate lack of trees that aren't perfectly straight. Trees that grow out of embankments, or on cliff faces, aren't straight at all.

I love what you've got so far.

I think it'll be 15 prims, total. Not great, but not horrible. I'm more concerned about the texture sizes I'm using. Have to see if I can shrink those.

I don't even blink until trees get beyond 35-40 prims, so I think 15 prims IS great. Just saying.

Please post pics of your cliffs, when they are ready. I've been looking for some well made sculptie cliffs for a project I've been lagging, err.. I meant "working" on.

Well, these are meant to be in a forest, so the numbers do add up, but I'm not sure I can get the prim counts much lower, besides perhaps spending hours and hours with sculpties and megaprims, trying to get things to line up properly. And I'm not going to be doing that. I still have some of my wits about me.

The cliffs -- part of them, anyway -- look like this:

More or less, anyway. They're capped by prim terrain, which I probably won't be selling.

Wowzer - those are very nice! I like the way you have sort of blended the sculpts into the normal terrain, especially near the top.

You know, if people read this thread and haven't visited Miriel's island sim, you really should. As stunning as it may be, it is stunning in a completely subtle way. Even more impressive, IMHO. Beautiful and evocative.

Thank you. That would be the prim terrain, and far too many hours of fiddling around with textures. (Did you know that ground terrain textures get rebaked in your client every time you log in? Yeah, that's kinda annoying.) It's designed to fit the specific cliff configuration I've got -- in Blender, it looks like I've stuck putty over my cliffs -- so I don't think I'll be selling it.

I've been hanging out at Miriels for the last few days, trying my luck at the treasure hunt, and I am truly amazed at the beauty of the island. Those cliffs, the trees, the detail in the grass, amazing. Go visit!

Oh and I bought some lovely eyes too.

So, folks who know what beech forests look like, how's this? Tree shape okay and everything?

The bark's too dark, but I don't know if I should bother fixing it. :/
