I think I've already said the reason I wouldn't vote for Romney has almost nothing to do with him and everything to do with the batshittery I've heard from the rest of the Rethuglican party.

I wouldn't say I'm an Obama supporter. I've been hugely dissappointed in him as a president. Yes, he TRIED to make things better, but he also caved in to the Rethuglicans almost every single time. At one point I was like, "Fuck the birth certificate. I want to see paternity testing on Sasha and Malia because they couldn't possibly be his. He's got no balls." But, in spite of my disappointment in him, I will hold my nose and pull the lever for him in November because I don't want any of those fucking loonies near power. I'm even holding off on moving to PA to live with my husband until after the election because I think Obama needs my vote in VA more than in PA.

Considering what my answers were for the economic questions, I'm wondering what sort of answers people have to give to be considered on the Economic right

It has an obvious political agenda. It's to convince you you are more left and more libertatian than you are, and that you are farther from mainstream politicians than you are.

I held my nose and voted for Obama in 2008 and will do so again in 2012. I really do think he is a DINO in many respects, although I applauded him for finally coming out in support of gay marriage this year.

I voted 3rd party last time, because I didn't like the choices and I will vote 3rd party again. The way these 2 parties are shaping up, I will probably be voting 3rd party for President for the rest of my life.

I can’t say that I support Mr. Romney; he’s the last non-Obama standing, and he’ll get my vote for that reason. I strongly oppose a second Obama term. These are some of my reasons. I won’t be returning to the thread to debate any of this, because SLU seems to be extremely hostile to anyone of my view, and honestly it’s no fun to debate it with you people. I’m posting here because it’s Cristiano house and he asked.

• I believe President Obama either does not understand the workings of a free market economy or is hostile to the concept. I believe that free markets are largely responsible for the rising standard of living through the modern era, and they must be protected from crony capitalism, socialism, fascism, and other government interference.

• I believe “Government” is not just a word for things we do together, it is a word for things we are coerced by threat of force to do. I believe that the President believes we should be coerced to do more things. I do not wish to be coerced.

• I believe President Obama is a narcissist who wants to be President in order to satisfy his ego, and that he is fundamentally uninterested in actually doing the job – to the point of shirking. However unenthusiastic I may be about him otherwise, I believe Mr. Romney is an altruist who wants to be President so he can do what he perceives to be good for others (I admit to fearing some of the “good” he may want to do).

• President Obama does not seem to me to believe that America should be the greatest nation in the world. Irregardless of whether I believe it is or should be, the leader of an organization should be committed to excellence and greatness in the body he leads; I would not want a CEO who aspired to have his company be one among many.

• I believe President Obama is deeply misguided about how to conduct a successful foreign policy that is in the best interests of America and Americans.

• Most importantly, I believe President Obama is hostile to many of my rights. I believe he sees our Constitutional rights as a barrier to further progress on social issues. I support free speech more than I condemn hate speech. You have a right to offend me and hurt me (in fact, on political points, many of you frequently do). I have no right to be free of offense and hurt.

Do you really think it is appropriate to attack another poster in this thread when all they have done is answer the original OP ? As others have pointed out SLU is a left leaning forum but alternative viewpoints should be welcome.

If I had a US vote in November I wouldn't be voting for Romney , however I respect Jack's right to do so.

Anyone who tries to insert terms like "socialism" in their disagreement with Obama automatically loses my respect. It's possible to not like Obama and to oppose him on principled grounds, but buying into the batshit lies of the Right is not the way to do it.

And that whole "free speech vs hate speech" thing sounds more to me like taking issue with support of gay rights - but we'll never know because that post was a drive-by.

You're spot on, Wrong. It's pretty chickenshit to come in and post incendiary bullshit with the cop out of "I won't be coming back to read any responses."

Anyway all I need to know about Jack is things he's posted about gay rights, and his support of the JLU spying on people in SL and hunting down "enemies" in RL. I'm not at all surprised he has such a nuanced, well-thought out and refined opinion of Obama.

I had to bite my tongue from saying more, but I thought you were not wrong in taking issue with "shoot and scoot" more so than you did what he actually said.

Drive-by posting isn't in the spirit of this thread, either. The day we can't say what we think - respectfully - in SLU is the day it's no longer SLU. The day the board is made up of one-post comments is the day Cristiano changes the name of the board to "SLURP" or something.

In any event, you can post what you want and choose to not read responses if you want, but you can't control how and what someone says in turn. "I won't be reading anything you reply" is manipulative.
