CNN Monday 20th; Why Ryan is NOT "bad" for Women

CNN's U.S. site today has this charming article by Anita McBride, claiming that American women will surely see that Ryan's economic policies will benefit them more than they will lose by his other positions. Positions exemplified by such factoids as:

> Voted against the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.

> Paul Ryan's 100% Anti-Choice voting record (yes, that link is to the NRLC website); that includes votes denying the right to abortion in cases of rape.

> Moving to a voucher program for Medicare. Since the bulk of family caregivers are female, the burden of selecting and fighting with private insurance companies to pay for the large number of medical visits and procedures necessary for elders will fall mostly to women.

CNN gives the relevant twitter feed at the bottom of the article. /me loosens up her pithy rhetoric.

McBride is part of the GOP's damage control. She was on GW Bush's staff and served as Laura's chief of staff. That should tell you on which side her bread is buttered.

I didn't find an easy way to respond directly to CNN via twitter (the obvious #CNNfail tag is all about Iran), so I sent this email to CNN:

CNN's featuring Anita McBride's article claiming that Paul Ryan will be good for women because he has a plan to improve the economy was ill-judged. Her thesis is a simple voicing of Republican campaign rhetoric. It should be transparently obvious that Ryan, who voted against the Fair Pay Act, does not hold the economic interests of women to be important. You should not permit your website to be used by either party for simple electioneering.
I also sent an email to McBride, chiding her for voicing such an inane rationale in public. Better to just tattoo Vote Romney on her forehead and leave it at that.

People still consider them a news organisation? I think of them as one step above FOX. Outside of a few news personalities I really like I have not seriously watched them regularly since the 90s.
