I guess this is Mike Huckabee's fault.

Quote:
Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas and Fox News host, has had enough of what he called the "vicious hate speech and intolerant bigotry" aimed at Chick-fil-A.

On his Facebook page, Huckabee announced that Aug. 1 will be "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day," a day on which he is encouraging people to patronize the fast food chain.

I know what you mean, but the ironic part is that in the bible 'red-letter' signifies the stuff that Jesus was supposed to have actually said. You'll note that there are no red letters in any bible referring to Christianity.

How can they considers themselves christians? Chick-fil-A serves pork products, which god specifically forbids in Leviticus 11:7-8 and Deuteronomy 14:8. One can't pick and choose which parts of the word of god to obey! Otherwise, you know, it's all made up mumbo jumbo!

I'm just at a loss for words really. Sometimes you think you are making progress and then the face of idiocy rears its big ugly head. Looking at those crowd pictures is like looking at sea of overweight pasty white people and I guess if I can take one thing away from it, at least we'll know them by their grease stained fingers.

Oh, the logic.

One man may disagree with what you have to say, but he will drive 10 miles and pay you money to help you say it:

Quote:
For those like John Mohler, 50, of Thornton, Colo., eating at Chick-fil-A on Wednesday was about defending free speech. Mohler said he doesn't share Cathy's belief--only his rights to air them. "I'm not sure I agree with his position on gay marriage," said Mohler, who drove to Englewood from downtown Denver on his lunch break.

"But I applaud the owner for speaking his mind, and that's why I'm here."
Here's a trio who supports same-sex marriage and asks for tolerance, and are showing their support for same-sex marriage and tolerance by showing their appreciation for Chick-Fil-A:

Quote:
Further up the line, Jessica Cather, 29, Dana Haskins, 42, and Sarah Touhy, 43, all stressed that though they support same-sex marriage, they also support the right to believe what anyone wants to believe.

"We support tolerance on both sides," Haskins said.
(By the way, the previously referenced four people have probably told pollsters that they support same-sex marriage.)

Finally, we have a couple who support the cause so much, they are making a charitable donation to a for-profit corporation:

Quote:
While there were no protestors, some supporters couldn't get away from work long enough to buy their meals. Deborah Irvine, 28, and Nicte Leeg, 27, wanted to support the company, but the line was too long. Irvine said she'd likely donate to the corporation instead.
That has to be a coup for the Republicans. Not only do these people hate gays, they will pay a for-profit corporation to speak for them.

Chick-fil-A supporters turn out in droves for

Conservatives do a lot more 'talking' than liberals. The amount of right-wing talk-radio out there is... disturbing. What does the left have, half of NPR and... ? Liberals seem to prefer music to background indoctrination.

Yes, you can't fault them for their organization and get-up-and-go vim and vigor.

You obviously missed that threat started by xfrodobagginsx recently. If you follow the new testament you're allowed to pick and choose what rules you follow. Jesus said so.

"Focus on the Family is dedicated to defending the honor, dignity and value of the two sexes as created in God's image."

That makes God hermaphroditic (or androgynous). I think this might squick the lot of "I don't agree with _____ because the Bible says it's so".
Just sayin'.
Reform Judaism Magazine - God's Hidden Name Revealed

This stunt was set to take the focus off August 3rd's "same sex kiss in". Either way, just like there's masculine/feminine in us all; there's love/hate, good/bad, saint/sinner .... Flowers have male and female parts; but I've yet to see a church that didn't have them up near the pulpit. They're at every wedding ceremony. The most popular flowers used in many Christian ceremonies or holidays are "perfect" flowers - meaning -- literally "bisexual". Easter Lily. Roses. Even the pine tree and it's cones (Christmas). The pine has male and female flowers *on the same tree*.

I get it! Symbolism is good!

Oh yay. A bunch of middle aged and older white (supposedly Christian) folks taking time out of their day to support bigotry.

Why is it that the people who have the most power and rights in our society are often all about denying them to everyone else?

I'm so glad that Chick Fill-A doesn't exist where I live. I'd be tempted to have a talk with these people.

Edit: Oops, looks like we do have one at the U of M campus.
