60 House Bills to Name Post Offices, Zero To Fix Mail Service
Quote:
In the 18 months the 112 th Congress has been sworn in, the House has introduced 60 bills to rename post offices. Thirty-eight have passed the House and 26 have become law. During those 18 months, the House has produced 151 laws, 17 percent of which have been to rename post offices, according to Congressional Democrats.
Not a single bill has come to the House floor aimed at reforming a Postal Service, which is bleeding billions of dollars because of Congressional mandates.

If the post office dies does it mean I won't get bills anymore?

Our government inaction.

Actually, I'm inclined to think that anything that keeps the government from making more laws is, in the long run, a good thing.

The only thing I'd notice about the lack of USPS delivery is a severe lack of ValPak envelopes, stacks of grocery store and Target flyers, and the obligatory bi-weekly 20% off coupon for Bed Bath and Beyond.

Honestly, I think I've purchased a grand total of five stamps in the past eight years.

Yes. You will still be obligated to pay those bills on time though.

I have certain bills that actually charge me per online and phone payment. One credit card charges $12 to make a payment via phone. Fun times.

It's not good for republicans to have a well running government agency when your agenda is to hand the business over to campaign contributors.

That's right, all those pesky laws that guarantee my drinking water won't kill me and that my employer has to at least pay me a minimum wage are such a drag. We'd be much better off letting Walmart and Bank of America deciding what's best for us..

That's odd... I was under the impression those laws were ALREADY in place.

Yeah... and I don't recall saying they should be repealed, either.

There were people back before these laws were made who made the exact same statement that you did: "Actually, I'm inclined to think that anything that keeps the government from making more laws is, in the long run, a good thing."

No, the current laws are not being repealed and, honestly, some laws are pointless to even enact, but without laws in place, a lot of people would lead pretty awful lives.

Just a thought.

Have to love it when people answer their own posts:

Really? Are you people REALLY so bloody STUPID (and yes, THIS time I'm insulting you, but only if you answer in the affirmative) that you think "not making more laws" is the same as "repealing laws"?

Hmm, considering the 2 quotes above that were both from you and nothing from anyone else then 'you' must mean yourself in that post.

So I guess I would have to say 'yes, but why are you insulting yourself'.

You dolts couldn't read your way out of a first grade McGuffey Primer. You all need to individually sue your respective elementary school districts for a complete and abject failure to give you even the most basic foundation in reading comprehension skills. I'll even testify on your behalf as to their liability.

It is absolutely incomprehensible how persons of your supposed ages have reached this point in your lives without being able to understand such simple concepts as the difference between "not making more laws" (which I suggested) and "repeal existing laws" (which I never espoused).

Given your demonstrated reading levels, I suspect you're going to have to look up half the words I just used, and your following posts will prove you still don't understand this.

In any event, "no more laws, we're done here" is a laughably idiotic position — and as far as reading comprehension goes, the point you keep missing is that people have said "no more laws, we're done here" in the past, and if government up and decided to agree with them fifty years ago a lot of the institutions you take for granted to ensure you don't breathe in poison or eat salmonella burgers wouldn't exist, putz. Take your own advice and read more than your own posts, you'll stop convincing yourself how fucking awesome you are.

A law can be good or bad, but no laws is going to remain bad until we grow up enough as a whole to be responsible for our own actions.

Also, I think I vaguely remember stamps.... I think the last one I bought was 15 years ago....maybe.

How old are you? I think schools phased those out in the 60s, didn't they? I seem to remember they decided they were too archaic.
