I'm holding my opinion on this one. The LIBOR rate is generally something like 99% accurate to central bank policies (and manipulating these rates is a primary tool of monetary policies) meaning that any variations that were "off" from Barclay would likely be thrown out as variation. I don't deny that there are very big areas in the banking sector where regulations need to be tightened considerably but I'm going to wait a bit before freaking out.

It's about time that something is done against these criminals.

Quote:
But Alpert is skeptical that bank executives will face prison because of the scandal. "There's no question that market manipulation is a very, very serious crime, and it's something we've thrown people into jail for," he said. But "I don't think anyone's going to jail," he added. If they do, "it won't be for a long time."
*groan and facepalm*

I think it's about time that each of these criminals get what they deserve -- which is, in my eyes, decades of jail time, and paying refund for each cent they stole or even borrowed from bank customers for their attempts of making more profit.

Three California cities have declared bankruptcy recently, there is going to be huge incentives for them to sue.

I believe that at some point in the near future, banks will be BEGGING for a government take over.
