Teeny's correct. Being a Republican means never having to say you're sorry. You can always blame the lib-rul media (known as the Palin Ploy), or claim that you were only kidding (known as the Herman Cain Hedge).

The concert at the base is part of the "Midwest Rock n' Roll Express" tour featuring co-headliners Nugent, REO Speedwagon and Styx.
Was this show for the troops or the troops (grand) parents?

Looks like they got Lieutenant Steve from Good Morning Vietnam doing the show bookings.... "REO Speedwagon, Styx and certain ballads by Mr Frank Sinatra......No wild stuff!"

Wow. Unfortunately I remember REO Speedwagon. I'd probably go AWOL if I had to sit and listen to those guys sing on my base.

If you're going to get 80s bands to play, you should at least get the *good* ones. Like The Cult, or something.

The Amboy Dukes used to own a barn on a little plot of land a little ways from Detroit. Rumors were that there were frequent drug parties there-very frequent. Of course I never attended, so I can't say from personal experience.

Man, I'm dating myself..aren't I?

Nugent says he's insulted by concert cancellation

"Ted Nugent said he was insulted by the cancellation of his planned concert at an Army post over his comments about President Barack Obama.

Commanders at the Fort Knox, Ky., post nixed Nugent's segment of a June concert after the rocker and conservative activist said at a recent National Rifle Association meeting that he would be "dead or in jail by this time next year" if Obama is re-elected."

Ted, like the Dixie Chicks, have every right to speak their minds about their president. But they both know there are consequences for doing that.

False equivelancy is false.

If Ted was not a conservative icon, he would be in jail right now for threatening the president of the united states.

If Ted Nugent threatens the president, what happens to hi-oh, wait, apparently nothing.

That would call for interpreting his words. He said "If Obama becomes president again I will be either in jail or dead".

That could mean that he will be arrested for protesting (civil disobedience, like the Occupy Movement) or he will be dead from committing suicide.

It's hard to charge him with terrorist threats.

disingenuous reinterpretation is disingenuous...

but no, if I said the same thing I wouldn't be in jail either... but the secret service wouldn't have been nearly as polite.

Either way, Ted Nugent is on the White House's 'Kiss My Ass' list.

This has nothing to do with the Dixie Chicks or Ted Nugent and everything to do with the fact that mildly criticising Bush makes you a traitor but waving guns around while calling Obama a piece of shit make you a patriot to way too many people.

No one is labeling the Dixie Chicks patriots. They, like Ted, are the victims of their own convictions. The Dixie Chicks weren't performing on any army bases during the Bush regime either. Equal treatment.

Yup. A good friend of mine, despite his politics, used to fuss at us and tell us we had to respect the President, even if we didn't vote for him. Since Obama was elected he's been going on and on about him in a most disrespectful manner - one of us called him on it, saying 'Wait, didn't you say we had to respect Bush because he was President - doesn't it work for all presidents?'

Playing devils advocate here.
Where in Teds statement does he actually threaten the President?

All he says is that if Obama gets elected again, he (meaning ted) will either be dead or in jail.
Are you assumingthat he will go on a rampage and try to kill the President?

If you read the statement for what it is, then he sounds like he will either commit suicide or go on a psychotic rant and get put into jail.
Which neither of those actually are threatening the President.

And that's probably what went down when the secret service showed up for an interview with him. And I suspect that at that point in time, with all of the media frenzy around this, they were forced to do it.
