I'm boggled by the whole testing process for the FDA - since it seems to consist of companies giving them lots of money to bypass it, and has since at least the days of Nutrasweet being introduced.

Also, love how all drugs are bad, unless they want to give us drugs to make our steak taste better, while having death as a side effect.... O.o

There's no mystery here, everyone and the dogs knows MJ is illegal because of the financial and political ramifications of unregulated Hemp farming on foresters and cotton producers. They use the "negative" effects of MJ as a handy political smoke screen.

My brother, who is a former deputy sheriff, explained to his county DA once that the biggest threat from marijuana use was if all the Cheetos disappeared from grocery shelves.

I did know of someone who died from a drug overdose - because she kept throwing up and kept taking fresh pills..... I've never known of someone who died from a pot overdose though.

I did hear of one case about a decade back, where a man in England did die of THC overdose. But according to the story, he smoked about a pound a day for years (and having many years ago smoked some incredibly weak-ass homegrown that took about an ounce for a decent buzz, that's not too hard to believe in and of itself).

I can't find the article, of course, which means it was likely an urban myth/scare tactic story with a big dollop of whipped bullshit on top. But even if it were true, that would be a) a HELL of a lot of pot, and b) ONE reported case since the plant has been cultivated for recreational purposes.

the funny thing is I don't even smoke so have no dog in the fight, but I can still see that the climate against it in the establishment is BS.

The biggest problem with legalization is that they can't easily spot test for it, for instance in the case of a driver.... of course driving laws should be based on behavior, not circumstance, but that's one of the big reasons the establishment is scared of it.

Also the big Pharmaceutical companies do not want to legalize cannibus so that they can make money on drugs like painkillers that people become addicted to.
