On the matter of free speech, let me say that Limbaugh does indeed have the right to say odious shit. So does Fred Phelps.

But as in all rights and priveleges, there is an accompanying responsibility. In Limbaugh's case, spouting offensive drivel is going to cost him a fuckton of money. He can go on spouting that offensive drivel until he's broke for all I care.

I'm curious, what "horrible things" are those "leftist radicals" saying about the handicapped (should be accommodated in the workplace), women (should have rights to their own bodies, and their medical concerns treated equally), and the helpless (should be fed, housed, and assited to getting back on their feet).... ?

Palin won't run. At this point she would be about as serious a candidate as Donald Trump, and she doesn't want to bruise her ego by losing.

As for the original topic: uh, is anyone actually surprised at Palin's situational ethics any more? Of course she'd take Rush's side, that's what she does. Partisan positioning matters more than ethical standards. Bear in mind this is the same crowd that struggled to blame Anders Brevik's murder spree in Norway on liberals.

Palin's the right person to address the hypocrisy. No lowbrow campaign to utterly destroy, to assassinate the character of a good person, can even come close to the torrent of hate that the leftist lemmings launched against her, and she has shown herself to be above her attackers in every sense. I really wish she was running...

And, btw, her comments are less a defense of Limbaugh, and more just putting it in perspective. The outrage over his comments has nothing to do with sexism or misogyny, and any woman who thinks so is kidding herself.

If there were evidence of Obama pressing the FCC to threaten the stations carrying Limbaugh's show or to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine in a way that would drive him off the air, then it would be. But as you describe it, it is not. Limbaugh shot first. The president has a right to respond.
