Apple Removing Siri-Like App Evi

Apple has notified the developers of the Evi app, which has Siri-like features and has been approved previously will be removed from the App Store because it is too much like their own offering. The app does things Siri doesn't do.

This strikes me as wildly anti-competitive on Apple's part.

I agree, but then again, Apple has a history of not liking competitive products, unless it's their own.

Evi was released on iOS on January 17th, long after after Siri. It has never been updated on iOS.

The Tech Crunch article seems to contradict itself. Even so, it is a shitty move by Apple. Why not let the app compete on its own merits?

I've been using an app entitled 'Voice Actions'. It's a poor man's Siri I use for my iPhone 3G.

I guess it's next to get pulled.

All I know is we should definitely freak out over a badly-researched TechCrunch article.

Meanwhile, Evi is still in the app store and generally getting lousy reviews.

Because Apple is the walled garden of the tech + style nirvana land. If Apple were a state it would be a totalitarian one, just one that is pretty and ruthlessly well managed.

Sources: Apple not pulling Evi app, working with developers to avoid confusion | The Verge

Could be any number of things that got Apple's attention. Predominantly black & white interface with blue accents? Graphically similar word balloons? Similar microphone icon?
