I agree with this in 99% of cases. However, I think that this individual does a great job of revealing, in advance as it were, whatever arguments the forces of repression are using/will use to justify their actions and desires.

Thus, interacting with the individual can be helpful both for understanding the mindset of these would-be dictators, and in providing a leisurely opportunity to examine their tactics.

(I'd guess that the individual chooses to interact with those of us who are progressive in our thinking for very similar reasons. I don't see a lot of 'stir them up for the luls' sort of expression emanating from the person.)

1. Santorum was referring to JFK and his speech on the topic, and
2. The legal doctrine of "separation of church and state" has been with us only since 1947 (McCollum v. Board of Education)
3. The 1947 ruling (delivered in 1948) was penned by Hugo Black, a documented Ku Klux Klansman and rabid anti-Catholic.
4. Once again, the liberal left find themselves in total agreement with the Ku Klux Klan.
5. Santorum was right. I also get sick at my stomach hearing the words of a Klansman echoed as liberal dogma for the past 65 years.

FACT - Separation of church and state is a doctrine created legally in the USA by the McCollum opinion. That was in 1947-8.

FACT - The opinion was written by a Klansman

FACT - The McCollum opinion is the touchstone of the left's legal case for eradicating God from the public arena

FACT - Anyone who supports McCollum and its descendant doctrines is in complete and utter agreement with a Klansman

I am sure you'll make your own decisions Cindy, but as for me, I want nothing to do with Klan-approved legal theory.

It's not political position that determines one's acceptance in this forum. There are conservatives and there are Christians who post here without a bit of an issue.

Again, it is not about someone being right leaning or having different opinions. You have a unique capacity to misrepresent facts and selectively read things, and ignore the parts you don't like. I gave you the benefit of the doubt for awhile, but your posts consistently follow a pattern. There are other conservative posters here, for example, Mr. B, who I don't agree with 99% of the time, but he is not someone who is just openly trolling for sport. You are.

BTW, the idea that enforcing separation of church and state is "going against religion" is preposterous. It is ensuring that the religion of others does not encroach upon the rights and freedoms of everyone. It is such a simple concept to understand. Santorum openly wants a Catholic theocracy in this country, and to impose the Christian version of Sharia Law. Religious beliefs have no place or role in the laws of this country. They can certainly inform a person's views, but that does not mean they in turn can impose that on others.

2) There is more than one Supreme Court Justice, you tool. He didn't issue that decision by decree. 7 out of the remaining 8 judges agreed with him.

3) Separation was well established before 1948 (like, it's in the Constitution, d00d)

4) McCollum v. Board of Education dissallowed using public schools for religious instruction and does not fall anywhere close to establishing your narrative.

5) He joined the KKK to get votes and admitted it was a mistake later in life. That doesn't excuse him in my book, but that's the reality. Pesky facts, I know.

The funny part is, those who scream the loudest about the war on religion and that it should be ok to have religion in the public square would freak the fuck out if it were a Muslim prayer banner hanging in a school, or teachings from the Koran on a wall in a courthouse. At least frame it for what it really is - freedom for Christianity, period.
