There are thousands of churches that are doing good works -- down and dirty good works of feeding the poor and other labors of mercy -- but they're not in the news. I was raised Unitarian, which is (at least nominally) a Christian church, and I wouldn't hesitate to return at any point in my life... when I was willing to get up early on Sunday and get dressed. | |

| Sorry folks. I have never once in my long life met a so-called christian that was not the nazi scum like that witnessed in nazieennessee. Maybe there are some out there that are true to the faith. But they are few. The majority are klansmen using religion as a shield. |

My Mood:  | Hope the deputy gets fired. It probably will never happen, but at least folks in that town know that law enforcement won't protect you from criminal attacks if you don't subscribe to their worldview. Also, I agree with Beebo that we shouldn't make sweeping judgments against Christians for the actions of these few bigots. That said ... I would like to see public awareness raised that there is nothing intrinsic about being "Christian" or "Religious" that endorses a person's morality above of others. There are good and horrible people of all stripes out there, and it's a mistake to make moral assumptions based on people's affiliations. Last edited by Aimee Weber; 10-05-2011 at 06:37 PM.
