Florida? Missing baby found under bed in box

I'm starting to believe there really is something whacked in Florida.

Mother, sitter in custody after missing baby found alive

Quote:
baby who had been missing for days was found alive Wednesday in a box underneath the bed of her baby sitter, Florida authorities said Thursday.

The baby girl's mother, baby sitter and the sitter's husband are in police custody, but no charges have been filed.

The police were tipped off when she was seen sitting out in front of the Walmart with a cardboard sign that said, "Babies - free to good home"

Just "starting" to believe it? It has to be the water, seriously.

Also, something is hinky about this - they did not arrest the sitter right away. She's in custody but they're not treating her like a criminal.

I'm not sure if that's because there was diminished mental capacity on behalf of the sitter or because she accused the mother of abuse.

The whole thing is kind of strange.

Is the baby deformed or something? Why does it look like an alien?

Do you have a wide screen monitor? The video is sort of stretched out on mine and everything is wider. It makes the baby's head look elongated.

The baby has an unnamed congenital condition that causes a larger than normal head size. According to the baby's aunt, the mother has the same condition.

The baby is also considerably undersized for a 7 month old. 11 pounds is the size of an average 2 month old.

I also haven't seen a single picture of that poor baby where she's smiling. This leads me to believe she has some kind of developmental disorder and maybe failure to thrive as well.

I read in another article that the the aunt/babysitter was involved in a previous missing child case, when her 3-year old stepson disappeared. That was in South Carolina over 2 decades ago. Her and the child's father were charged with assault & battery, I think, in connection with that case when it was determined that a 6-year old girl who lived in her home had been badly abused. The 3-year old was never found, supposedly disappeared while the woman was napping. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but her sentence was suspended after 80 days. The police didn't release details on how or if she was related to the abused 6-year old at that time.

I didn't smile until I was 6 months old and I turned out normal.

The more you learn about this bunch, the easier it becomes to see why any child (developmentally disordered or not) would "fail to thrive".

Dave Barry says there's a "weirdness magnet" buried under South Florida, but I think we've just been self-selecting for "eccentric / quirky" genes (like California does for "flakey") for generations. And, there are some rural areas where the gene pool is only an inch deep in almost any state.
