Romney says he will consult with Blackwater on torture

Romney Refuses To Call Waterboarding Torture, Says He’ll Consult With Blackwater’s Cofer Black

During tonight’s CNN/YouTube debate, a YouTube questioner asked the candidates why they refuse to condemn waterboarding as torture. Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney said that before making such a determination, he would need to get “counsel on a matter of this nature” from “a lot” of people. One of the people with whom Romney said he would specifically like to speak is Blackwater vice chairman Cofer Black:

I am not. I’m not going to specify the specific means of what is and what is not torture so that the people that we capture will know what things we’re able to do and what things we’re not able to do. And I get that advice from Cofer Black, who is a person who was responsible for counterterrorism in the CIA for some 35 years.

Wow, I am really disappointed in this. I was hoping for a republican candidate that would not follow in the foot steps of Bush and recognize some of his mistakes.

I really do not want Blackwater to have a place in the next administration. Especially not as Senior Adviser for counterterrorism and national security issues.

Your best bet is McCain.

Frankly, If McCain became President even I could live with that without losing sleep about our country descending into nightmare fascism.

To me, McCain is a nice normal Republican. I don't agree with all his policies -- but at least with him we'd be back to a normally functioning country again.

Yah, McCain stands the best chance. Personally I like Paul, but it'll never happen. Though he is changing things, and that's definately a good thing, really makes the NeoCons stand out.

Can we all agree they're all better then Bush?

Not Giuliani. He might be worse.

I....think Romney's mistaking waterboarding for that wonderful and (slightly) painful sport snowboarding.

And, if not, maybe he should try it himself! Fun for the whole family!

I've always liked McCain but I do not think has a chance of getting the nomination or defeating an Obama.

Don't mean this as a slam.

I don't think any the Republicans have a chance against
any of the Democrats likely to get the nomination.

Unless the Democrats fuck it up, which of course is always a chance.

We excel at fucking up a sure thing.

I haven't forgotten

I just don't think it'll be close enough this time to steal without anyone noticing.

More scary stuff on Romney:
http://www.skeeterbitesreport.com/20...nce-chief.html

If you go down the page you'll eventually get to a mention of Straight, Inc., widely known to have operated much like an abusive cult, but with the extra evil that the victims were minors unable to escape. There are better sources on this than the page I found, this just came up from a Google search.. the news is going around.

One of the worst things that still go on in Utah under the cloak of unofficial Mormonism are abusive youth camps. Some of them are for trying to deprogram gay teenagers. If any of these people are anywhere near Romney, this tells me a LOT about what type of Mormon he is.

I was hoping Romney would be a moderate type Mormon because of the deals he made as governor, but it doesn't look to actually be the case. So right now I'm pretty much anybody-but-Romney because I know personally what the coercive side of the conservative Mormon mentality looks like. Not even their own church can fully rein in these people.

It would be Bush again, but without even so much as an effort to put spin on it. Just theocratic fascism and no lube.

Romney seems to have White House disease bad. He'll say whatever he thinks he needs to get to the next step.
