AT&T has filed a lawsuit against Verizon for its recent "There's a Map for That" ads, claiming that the ads mislead customers into thinking that there is not AT&T service in the empty areas of the map.

I think it is a lame argument - it clearly shows and states they are comparing 3G coverage - not network coverage overall. If you can't compete, litigate!

Along time ago back when it was alright. I had a pager through Verizon.

They sent me a 1500$ bill for one month. And then told me it was not a mistake.

I am rooting for AT&T.

Also because AT&T's symbol looks like the Death Star.

I can understand Dancien's view, after he's been screwed like that (I assume it was a screwing?). I hope he won the court case on the merits.

That said, not to worry. If anyone has deep enough pockets to meet AT&T in court lawyer for lawyer, and continuance for continuance, it's Verizon. To paraphrase someone who did a lot of it (Sumner Redstone), litigation is a business tool...

In the first case, go, Dancien. In the second case, go Verizon.

In all cases, death to greedy, cynical shitheads.

I still have the bill (unpaid cuz they can lick me where I pee). I had 20 pages that month.

The companies all suck. I am happy to see Verizon sticking it to AT&T though - those commercials must be working. It's also nice to see Apple's stupid 'There's an app for that!" line used against them indirectly.

I almost tried solving that. I bet there are accountants at Verizon going "Oh this dude is screwed now the minute we get a big enough calculator we're going to give our banker an aneurysm trying to figure out the total"

The lawsuit is not over that - it is over the map image. AT&T claims that the map of their coverage area is misleading because it implies that they offer no service at all in the areas not shown in blue, not just a lack of 3G services there.

That's certainly a valid criticism of the ads, but the line itself is pretty good.

It will probably end up in a settlement, which has always annoyed me about legal issues. Although I'd much rather see AT&T get laughed out of court.

I have come to realize that it doesn't mater what giant corporation you subscribe too, you will inevitably have to spend several hours on the phone with them fixing some sort of goof-up on their part ever other year or so.

On a side note, how do you rack up a $1,500 bill on a pager?! It just seems to defy logic.

I had a total of like 20 pages that month. Most were from my mom going 'When are you coming home?"

Never use a pager,cellphone, or anything like that for drugs. that's how the catch you.
