This is our second Halloween here, and last year I bought a bunch of candy to give out and no trick or treaters showed up. The price of living in a nice safe gated building I guess.

This year my daughter is angry with me because I told her she can't go to a party she wanted to go to. There will be drinking and no adult supervision, so despite her assurances she wouldn't drink, my answer was still "hell no". And now she isn't speaking to me. She's really very gifted when it comes to holding a grudge, so I'm guessing she'll continue the silent treatment through Sunday at least.

I think it will be the same as it was last year: the families with the kids moved away over the summer (since nearly all the townhouses in the area are rentals), and despite having our porchlight on, they never come to the door. So the bags of candy we buy end up being taken to work the next day to be added to the piles of candy from other people who don't get kids.

Hubby hasn't indicated he wants to go do anything, but then again, it usually ends up we do something last minute, so who knows.

Ahh, teenagers... the furious glares! the sullen sighs! Oh, and the eyerolling!

Almost makes me miss that wonderful time in my son's life when there was no one lamer on the planet than me. He laughed like a loon when I told him I like MCR...

Oh, and the trick-or-treating? We live on a street of townhouses behind privacy fences... the only kids we get are the children of friends who know that ours is a "safe" house and we give the kids scads of candy (we have to eat it if not, or Margo bitches about the "waste").

Play this for her Allana...

Taking the little one trick or treating and handing out candy to the few children that actually show up. The number dwindles every year.

Slogging through ankle-deep snow with the kiddoes trick or treating, followed by spooky meal at home, then spooky movies. I love when Halloween is on Saturday, gives so much more time to getting it all celebrated properly

How are you celebrating Halloween?

Turning the lights out and pretending not to be in so that I can avoid being mugged of my munchies by teenagers on my own doorstep.

My father is coming into town tonight and is planning on staying until tomorrow morning. I think I'd rather have my car egged.

Halloween. LOVE IT. Apparently I live in Kid Central, so my house is visited by the candy-deprived hordes of the town. (You think I am joking when I use the word horde, but dang, I cannot believe how many kids come to the house each year.) Our civic association plans events throughout the year, and apparently we are Druids, because on Halloween, we always have a HUGE bonfire on the baseball diamond, and everyone heads to the park to see it, listen to music, to sip cider, munch on ginger snaps, and the kids can pick up glow rings.

So...that means...EVERYONE comes by my house, either before or after going to the bonfire. I really go to town decorating inside and outside the house, and I cannot believe the amount of candy I dole out every year. The best is when I hear kids walking down the street saying, "ooh, we have to go here...they always have cool decorations and the BEST candy!!"

Also, a scary movie, if I can find one I haven't seen yet.

I have been invited to an ecclectic, casual, "outer circle" ritual tonight, and although not exactly a "believer" , I will probably stop by because I like that stuff ;-).

No kids tomorrow, so I may go over to a party which is in a neighborhood that does have kids.

Alone. O is working, and the lovely and gracious ex-Mrs. Trout has the kids, which means I have no hope of seeing them. We got around 2 trick-or-treaters last year.

I'm a little bitter. At any rate, I'll hole up, watch tv and eat all the candy.

I'll be with my daughter and two of her friends all afternoon at home until early evening. I'm having a little Halloween party for them.
I"ll order pizza for them.. we'll watch scary movies, some Twilight Zone, then crank-up the radio, laugh at them as they show off their so-called "dance moves", eat some cup cakes and carve some pumpkins.
Later that evening when all the candy is passed-out and she's sleeping.. I'll clean-up, park myself on the couch, drink a cold one and watch some Twilight Zone episodes alone. Yay!

Eating cheesecake, watching crap on TV and playing WoW, most likely.

Can't complain, though. If my apartment complex did have any brats in it, I'd probably booby-trap my front door. Bah humbug, or something.

Boo-Humbug is right. Halloween is my excuse to buy a lot of candy "just in case", then eat it all the following week because "we can't let it go to waste".

Anyone throwing an SL Halloween party? I'd be down with that.

I know there's an all day Halloween party at the Forum Cartel Hangout in Allana. It goes from 12 noon - 12 midnight SLT.
