Interesting (but not in a conspiratorial sort of way, just interesting) that Michael Jackson's kids were spotted without their masks just a few weeks ago ... a rare event!

the mother is white and she obviously had the dominate gene.

That does happen from time to time. It is still a mystery as to how MJ got so pale without also being patchy (the disease he was said to have usually results in spots, not uniform paling, from what I recall).

There are some dramatic skin tone changes in my own family as a result of several generations of mixing. With people who share the same features but look to be different races.

I suspect that the youngest one will continue to hide for a while. They weren't masked just for MJ's paranoia - there is a real threat to these kids from crazy fans, anti-fans, and people with race-based agendas.

To give the benefit of the doubt... there is vitiligo universalis which is less patchy. If you think about MJ over the past decade, he has hidden rather large swaths of skin. Including using masks.

It's kind of an unprecedented security measure, no? I mean ... even the children of controversial heads of state don't go around in masks. I've never heard of it except with Michael Jackson's kids.

Children of heads of state go around with huge teams of security guards who have legal license to blow the head off any wacko within 1 mile...

Jackson has been a target of all kinds of hate, particularly targeted at his race, his sexuality, the validity of his children, and so on. Further, celebrity children have a way of growing up with all kinds of issues stemming from overexposure - just look at Paris Hilton. She's only an exception for the children of the wealthy and or famous in that she too is famous. Her conduct is typical. But you can also look to Jackson himself - he faced a lifetime of problems stemming from the way his childhood was handled by those around him.

Jackson's hiding of his kids is one of the smartest moves he ever made. The two older ones are old enough to start learning how to manage their image. If Jackson were still alive we'd probably be seeing them gain gradually more exposure through their teen years.

Your conduct in these forums itself kind of demonstrates the problems these kids will face in their lives. That complete random strangers have to call them and their family into question so often.

They are very pretty normal looking kids. The don't look very dark having an African American father, but then I again my middle daughter is blond haired blued eyed and looks nothing like me.

I hope they have had a fairly normal upbringing and not the crazy one people wonder about. I'm sure we will find out when the book comes out when they get older.

Not at all. They are often assigned decent government security detail but they don't have that kind of proactive authority (not that they don't overstep their authority, but then so do private security agents) but frankly Jackson can afford better (short of presidents and prime ministers.)

There's been plenty of celebs in similar positions. I call shenanigans that Jackson is a one-of-a-kind situation and at the highest risk where his kids have to walk around in funny masks.

If anything else, the masks make these kids easy to spot (aim for the plumage!)

That makes more sense to me than believing that his darker genes were recessive all three times.

I don't think they're his. I don't see a lot of half-black kids around with fair skin, blue eyes and straight blonde hair.

I'v seen plenty "mulatto" kids with caramel skin and blue eyes; the hair is a tossup though. These kids have obviously wavy hair. You can't tell by looks, that's just how America is.

IMO the red-green masks are pretty. I don't like the purple one.

I wouldn't call their skin "caramel". More like ivory.
