I agree. Mero without the acerbic snark wouldn't be Mero.

But in this thread, I honestly can't differentiate you from your average, everyday, garden-variety, troll.

Make of that what you will.

Just to pose a hypothetical question.

What if the company in question had said, we are going to drop our rates, across the board, by 8%, however, if you are too large to sit in the seat you will be charged 6% and if you need to use the restroom on the flight you will be charged 2%.

So, if you are too large to fit in the seat comfortably and you need to use the restroom on the flight, you would pay exactly what you pay now.

In other words, the airline made the flights cheaper across the board and charged for additional services.

On another note, I think Mero has difficulty communicating tactfully and respectfully to others.
I don't think he is intentionally a troll or a bad person.

In fact, most of the time, I enjoy reading his viewpoints.

That was kind; thanks for it.

They are already charging extra for services without dropping their rates. Blankets, pillows, food, water, and in one case (maybe others - I've only heard of one airline, though), the restroom all have extra charges.

The last few times I've flown I've hit the Subway on the way to the airport rather than pay the extra for food on the plane. Nothing is worse than a fat guy infringing on your personal space...except a fat guy infringing on your personal space while he chows on a meatball sandwich.

Yes, I agree, they are.

However, the alternative is an across the board price hike which hits everyone, regardless of whether they use those services or not.

They have decided to raise their price to remain profitable.
There is nothing that we can do about that.

There really are a number of alternatives but it boils down to one of two options:
1. Charge for individual services.
2. Raise prices across the board per customer.

Personally, I prefer the first alternative, although, I agree, they can go overboard with what constitutes an individual service and negatively impact the publics perception.

It was Ryan air that said they were considering charging for the restrooms and then they got such a large negative push back from the public that the CEO said "just kidding", no really, just kidding".

But I'm not so sure they were.
