The Iraqi journalist who hurled his shoes at US President George W Bush has a broken arm and ribs after being struck by Iraqi security agents, his brother told AFP on Tuesday.

I mean how dare he then bleed on the floor? No doubt this and the broken limbs are an act of asymetrical warfare.

Then again, he may have broken his arms and ribs throwing the shoes with such force.

Well, like I said earlier, a youth spent playing dodgeball would probably have weeded him out.

I never thought Id say this but I though Dubya handled that quite well. He could only have improved his response by throwing the shoes back.
Fair play to him.

God, it would have been awesome if he had caught the shoe and chucked it right back at the guy.

Dodgeball.

Even more awesome if he had in turn caught them and thrown them back.

Imagine a five minute shoe volley.

It really bothers me this guy got roughed up, and no one did anything to stop it. American police aren't *supposed* to do this shit (cruel & unusual) and I would hope that a civilized speaker at a gathering where a beating was going on would ask it to stop.

American police didn't, and I suspect most of his injuries happened in the dogpile of security forces that mobbed him. He's lucky to be alive. Attacking the President is one of those things that is likely to get you instantly riddled with bulletholes.

I'm not saying I don't feel for the guy for his injuries, but really - throwing anything at the President (even a president we don't like) is begging to get yourself injured. They didn't know if it was just a shoe, something sharp, or even something potentially explosive. I refuse to believe he didn't know he was about to get gang-tackled by every security agent in the room.
