Look, you have to understand that being a teenager is being a very confused and self-hating person in a rarefied moral (or, as the case may be, amoral) environment. Hundreds of studies have been done on this. Teenage girls (and boys) do not fully understand sexuality, they just know they want to have sex -- and they want to know that other people want to have sex with them. Just go to an average American high school on Halloween.

There is also an incredible social pressure on them. Teenagers in general do not understand the difference between appropriate and inappropriate -- only what is appropriate and inappropriate in their defined social setting (and in that, they are devout). This teenage girl sending naked pictures out of herself? Of course it's wrong, and it should be dealt with. However, I do not think that a boy sending pictures of his penis to female classmates would receive the same response. People are mostly afraid of this chick ending up on child pornography sites (with good reason).

There is a marked difference between sexual education for boys and girls. Boys often receive porn mags, a pat on the back, and a "go enjoy yourself." Girls get "Don't get knocked up", "Don't be a slut", "Don't give it away" ... don't, don't, don't. They also get "Don't be fat", "Don't wear too much makeup" ... in addition to all the shit women get in general (just read the latest issue of Cosmopolitan). At some point it became unsexy to actually feel good about yourself.

This is a symptom of society and this girl should receive counseling, not a criminal charge.

Oh man, I had a accidental text message like a month ago. Some boy must have text the wrong number. He was expressing his feeling to some young lady and gave a vivid description of how hot and bothered he was at the moment.

So I ran with it. I told him to come over (go to her house) but stop at the store to get some Captain Crunch and Milk for me first. I said I (the girl) was having a craving for Captain Crunch and there would be a reward in it for him.

That is exactly what the authorities are dealing with and they have to some how put a stop to it. The truth is a lot of parents suck at doing their job so the authorities have to do the only thing they have the ability to do, their job.

This is not new, these kids never get a stiff punishment. It does send a message to them not to be idiots.

When did being seen naked become such a horrible thing? Even if it's permanent. Even if a man over 18 happens to see it and gets his jollies from it (which also should absolutely NOT be considered a criminal act). Unless the girl is actually molested or abused it's thought crime. I will never accept that thoughts can be criminal. That's reserved for actions that cause harm to another.

The only real harm from what she did is long term embarrassment, if she's even embarrassed, and frankly good for her if she's not. As far as I'm concerned it isn't this girl that's confused about sexuality. It's society that has a serious problem. This is a witch hunt, no different than those in Salem. Making a teenager feel ashamed for expressing her sexuality, even if it was in an ill-considered way, and branding her a criminal for it IS abuse and far, far more harmful to her long term well being. The segment of our society that's so horrified by the sexuality of youth is the real monster here in my opinion.

This post will probably get me on some watch list.

There already are pictures of my daughter on the web. A pervert could be "enjoying" them now. It gives my skin the heebie jeebies, but the pictures on the web are in no way sexual. I'm sure that doesn't stop a perv but, it is what it is.

As a father of three girls, one just now entering the teen year. The thought of an older guy whacking off on the internet to my daughters picture stirs some emotion. I'd want to kick him in the nuts and make it hurt every time he ejaculated.

I want to say again. I do not think this deserves stiff punishment but I do think a message need to be sent to kids to make better decisions. I am not saying anyone should be embarrassed of their body, but to have young girls pictures on the internet is not a good thing. There is a reason we try to limit the material these perverts have to look at.

Any man who claims to have never seen a 14-15 year old and thought "um, damn!" is a bloody liar. We can argue about the appropriateness of it, but what harm is caused to anyone?
