No one wants to see casualties but sometimes there is no diplomatic solution. And personally I'd like to be sure that we don't end up with a Neville Chamberlain in our White House.

Even in "Just" wars people advocating wars are hoping people will die. There is just a reason they think those deaths are supposedly worth it.

People always die in wars.

Iraq as a "just war" is a big stretch.

Some could possibly argue a "necessary" war. I wouldn't. Because if it was we would have declared war.

This is a lot different than wars where us intervening shortens the duration of the war and protects countries like World War 1 and 2. Still those who advocating us being involved in those way were voting for people to die.

The bloodless war hasn't been invented yet.

Why doesn't Obama or McCain or anyone else ever address the fact that more Americans are dying in drug/gang wars in the US than in Iraq. The death toll this summer in Chicago beat out Iraq.
That is circular logic in its worst application

They want people to die so they can end the war so less people will die.

Doesn't even make sense.

As to your other point. Yes something needs to be done about that. We didn't learn our lesson. Prohibition on Alcohol caused gang violence. Ending Prohibition reduced it.

Sheesh.....
I didn't say to deny soldiers the vote.

But the military as a group should have no say in our politics.

NONE.

Its probably the most dangerous thing you can think of involving our future as a country.

That is why the CiC is a civilian and not military. Plus, there is a difference between the rank and file and the top brass as well.

Yes I agree that is why its necessary we keep the separation active. People trotting out "who the soldiers" want to win the political election is very Dangerous. No matter what Party.

But that Pales in comparison to people trotting out "Who the military wants" to win the political election. That is the stuff of nightmares.

Officers are prohibited from being political around their men I beleive. The US military has a good record of being non-partisan as an organization. But it requires constant vigilance. Especially when its the most powerful Military in the world.
