It was his "work on the economy" that set the groundwork for this fiasco. Thanks, friend!

I've got money that he wishes he could wake up and it would be 2007 again so he could retire quietly and let Huckabee lose.

The guys on FoxNews were asking McCain's spokesperson, but what about all those poor folks in Mississippi who have been planning the debate and who have spent large sums of money on it?? Response by McCain's spokesperson: Well, someone has to pay.

It's a bit of a no win isn't it?

They blow off the economy issue to have the debate, they look like they don't take being a senator seriously, and that they're willing to risk the entire economy so they can shout sound bites at each other.

They put off the debate and they look like they're just pandering for votes with a "get it done" work ethic.

Personally I would put having a functioning economy on Monday morning a higher priority than having some debate Friday Night.

But call me crazy, I like my money....

Hi ... I'd like to introduce you to Mr and Ms MiddleClassAmerican ... they'll be paying; for the debates AND for the bail out (read "bail out" as "more money for those who already have more than they know what to do with") they're working on that has them too busy to do their debating!

Sometimes I wonder if we're just not better off letting it all go where it may and recover from a true nadir instead of a false one.

So now CNN says McCain is suspending his whole campaign and wants Obama to do the same.

besides the grandstanding and posturing he will be doing between now and then...

McCain knows he's arse deep in this crisis.. he'd do well to avoid debate on it...

But this is the thing, the first debate was supposed to be on Foreign Policy, his supposed strength over Obama.

That is the most desperate, pathetic thing I have ever seen. McCain's campaign is tanking, so now he is suspending it in the name of fixing the economy? We still need to elect a president in a little over 30 days. What next, suspend the election?

So you think they are going to nail down this thing in the matter of a couple of days?

You wouldn't happen to be the type of voter McCain is trying to appeal to with this stunt, are you?

As the Huffington Post points out, the only thing that has changed in the past 48 hours are the polling numbers:

McCain Wants A Time Out -- But Why?
