Dutch Spies Recalled From Iran Due to 'Imminent' U.S. Attack

Dutch Spies Recalled From Iran Due to 'Imminent' U.S. Attack - Defense/Middle East - Israel News - Arutz Sheva

...

De Telegraaf reported on Friday, August 29, that the Dutch General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD) had been running a successful "top secret operation" in Iran for several years. The aim of the operation, according to unnamed sources, was "infiltration and sabotage of the armaments industry in the Islamic Republic," according to the Dutch newspaper. However, the plug was pulled on the operation recently and a key agent recalled home because of information that an American decision to attack Iran "would be made within a few weeks."

Would be cool if when we attacked something, we actually attacked it. I think war should be treated like super street fighter alpha in the arcade; Spam a shitload of buttons and watch all the shiny colors.

How funny. An issue of US News & World Report about 3 weeks ago went to great lengths interviewing Pentagon officials (including the Joint Chiefs) on how bad an idea it was to attack Iran and how hard they've worked to convince Bush not to go there - we couldn't invade because it would take 4 years and a draft to get the people, we couldn't bomb because their nuke facilities are buried underground, and letting Israel bomb them would probably provoke retaliation somewhere else. Probably through the Iranian proxies like Hezbollah. An attack either way would close the Straits of Hormuz and oil prices would spike so much we'd look back to $4 gas as "the good old days".

Either that report was convincing disinformation, or Arutz Sheva is a radical alarmist publication.

I read Arutz quite often. I'm going for the latter.

This is Israeli news.. probably more like wishful thinking... you'd have to be a nut job to start a war like that in the current climate..

Ya think?

I can usually tell about a publication's politics by scanning the headlines. Let's take a gander at Arutz Sheva's headlines today, shall we?

Quote:
Iran: We Produce, Export Weapons

IDF: Shooting During Arrest Was Justified

Al-Qaeda Connections in Gaza

Hamas Calls on Egypt to Send Army to Jerusalem

Supreme Moslem Council: Temple Mount is Jewish
Now, I'll grant that I can't imagine living in such a tiny country under a 60-year threat of annihilation from my neighbors. It has to get to you after a while. And I don't doubt that al Qaeda, being the loose non-organization it is, has tendrils all over the place. But this really is about the same stuff Arutz prints every single day: Iran's going to attack us, terrorists are on our borders, Arabs hate Jews.

Then again, I suppose it's not paranoia if they're really after you.

Any attack on Iran will come after the election in November. That way it will:

(a) secure Bush's "legacy";
(b) not prejudice McCain's chances;
(c) be left to Obama to clear the whole mess up.

Short of Iran actually attacking someone like Israel or closing the Straits, it's NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

For a while I really thought it was about to happen.. cant see it now, though a false flag by Israel wouldn't be to hard to imagine.. some of their winger nuts are positively itching for it..

The international press is being played, too, as part of the methods of bringing pressure on Iran. A government doesn't actually have to intend to invade someone - just sound like it in the press and your enemies get nervous.

Actually, it will probably be the other way around.

Expect something to happen in the next several months regarding another country attacking the US or countries that are friends with us in some way.

With a "changing of the guard" so to speak, the US will be seen as vulnerable.

Note that I said "any attack", not "a US attack".

I hope it won't happen. But if it does, that will be the prime time.

Dutch Secret Service:

You're doing it WRONG.

Maybe the recall of your spies from Iran would have been one of those things you might have wanted to keep a lid on. Just sayin'. I'm all for openness in gov't activities, but every once in a while, I'm cool with the government keeping certain activities under wraps.

ok - all kidding aside, I don't think an attack by anyone on Iran is imminent. Israel would love to. The US will try to rein them in, and nobody is really in a position to. Personally, I'd like to see South Korea attack Iran, because it would be fun to watch and for once in the last 250 years, nobody could blame us except for whack jobs who blame EVERYTHING on us (not naming names...you know who you are).

There's never going to be a war with Persia now.
The NBA just allowed that huge Iranian guy to sign with the Memphis Grizzlies.
It's a small step, but it's the new glasnost.
Same situation with Yao Ming.

Yes. Exactly. They could attack the Iranians with level 75 Blood Elves and use the Secret Spell of Disenfranchisement to disrupt the country while the Ork Army invades from the South.

In the future, countries will wage war in WoW.
