He didn't ask the question, a female audience member did. However, he laughed at it and said it was an excellent question.

Right. What people take issue with is that he did laugh at it instead of correcting the questioner. Basically, that he implicitly agreed with calling her a bitch.

Personally, I think there are enough other quotes that put him squarely in the misogynistic bastard category that this one doesn't bother me.

edit: Chris and Richie...you are posting to quickly!

I'm not condoning what he did but is it right to stay in a marriage that isn't working for at least one of them?

But everyone there laughed.

And he called her Senator Clinton, and even said he had respect for her.

Are we wanting our Candidates to be more than human now?

Are we going to try and say he is sexist because he laughed? It was a woman who made the comment.

You're right.. If my wife was disfigured in a car accident I would leave her too... cause I'm big like that.

But isn't beating Hillary an excellent question, when you are potentially going to run against her?

Yeah...most people don't take "for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health" too seriously these days.

I'll give McCain this amount of credit though...at least he didn't serve his wife divorce papers while she was in the hospital recovering from surgery to deal with uterine cancer. Like a certain Republican Speaker of the House who shall remain nameless.

Yeah this story about his ex-wife is pretty sad.

Wish she'd come forward and tell her side though.

I just don't see women, even devout H. Clinton supporters, crossing the line to vote for a woman who wants to take away their and their daughters' and granddaughters' right to choose. "Feminists for Life" is a joke. Feminists don't try to steal another woman's right to decide or to determine what happens to her own body.

As for McCain, he's sure moving up in the world, isn't he? He went from having a trophy wife to having a trophy running mate.

I think people are really misstating Sarah Palin's positions here.

She isn't "anti-gay." She doesn't support gay marriage. Neither does Obama. Though he is opposed to constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, Obama supports civil unions. Sarah Palin has broken with her Republican peers and signed into law provisions giving gays more rights and protections in Alaska. She should be applauded for her courage on this, and not have her position and record twisted to suggest she is anti-gay. I wish all four of these candidates were more progressive on this issue. But I think it's very unfair to say she is anti-gay.

With regard to teaching creationism in class, she has clarified her position on that issue. I also think its unfair to take a sound bite and suggest that summarizes her position on an issue when there is more information available.

I'd say she's being courted by publishers as we speak... though I highly doubt we'd see anything prior to the election..

Hahaha I found this comparative chart that is a critical analysis of the issues surrounding her selection:

I believe this is a Quote of hers:

No one running for President is allowed to be pro-gay marriage.

They would lose votes.

Basically the only difference is:

Pro-Civil Unions or Against.

Beau, my comment to you addressed your statement "McCain thinks woman are stupid and will vote for him just because he has a female on the ticket" which I find outrageous. Of course he picked a female, at least in part, because she would appeal to female voters. But that does not mean he thinks women are stupid. If he had picked a black, or latino vice president, you would say he thinks blacks and latino's are stupid. For you, the only choice McCain was allowed to make was another boring old white dude. I for one am really glad he made a different choice.

It wasn't "How are you going to beat Hillary?". It was "how are you going to beat the bitch?". There is a huge difference. As a fellow senator and a supposedly decent person, he should acknowledged she deserved more respect than than being referred to as a bitch.

I'm going to apply the "American Idol" rules to voting here...

I wanna vote for her, She's cute! and her name is Sarah.
So She's got the Grandfather figure on her ticket... worse has happened.

"Sarah Palin... Babies, Guns, Jesus... Hot Damn!"

-Wulf

Maybe she can come out on stage in some awesome outfit with U2 as her opening music... Oh wait... Obama did that!

That's the sound bite Richie. Now dig harder and get the rest of the information. You are capable.

Awww heck, I will do it for you. You may be capable, but you aren't willing.

adn.com | elections : 'Creation science' enters the race

Quote:
"I don't think there should be a prohibition against debate if it comes up in class. It doesn't have to be part of the curriculum."

She added that, if elected, she would not push the state Board of Education to add such creation-based alternatives to the state's required curriculum.

Members of the state school board, which sets minimum requirements, are appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Legislature.

"I won't have religion as a litmus test, or anybody's personal opinion on evolution or creationism," Palin said.

She also isn't pro-big oil either since she levied a huge tax on them in Alaska which has the coffers fuller than they've probably ever been.

On the scandal she is supposedly in the Public Safety Commissioner should have fired or at least did something to that State Trooper when he threatened Palin's sister. Yet he did nothing and she got rid of him. Isn't that what your suppose to do when someone isn't doing their job?

But he didn't call her a bitch .. he (and everyone else) just laughed.

He did say he respects her .. its right at the end.

That leaves you with just "he didn't correct the person who made the comment and everyone who laughed"

--------------

How many people have called Condy Rice a bitch in the last few years? I've lost count.

And Janet Reno was "a bitch" too.

Heck I've been called a bitch on those other forums.

-----------------

Yeah it would have been nice if he hadn't laughed, and he had mentioned that everyone (not just him) should respect her.

But people have been acting like he called her a bitch, when he didn't - at least not in that clip.
