Has Chelsea had plastic surgery?

Chelsea 2000:

Chelsea 2007:

Or, hey, maybe she got out of college and spent her money on cosmetics and a hairstyle?

I disagree. As I couldn't say it any better myself:

But I think you will agree with most of the pundits I have heard tonight. She was poised, funny, witty, charming and down to earth - and got lots of jabs in on her opponents. She did what she had to do tonight. I would not write Sarah Palin off so quickly. Even if the republican ticket doesn't prevail in November, I think we have just seen the birth of political star.
My first reaction as I sat down to hear her was . . whoa, what's that funny accent. Then I started to hear what she was saying. Seemed natural, funny, witty, charming. And yes, down to earth, the whole family did. There were occasions, though, when it looked like she wanted to rush through certain sections.

What's wrong with her hair? I didn't think of if until this comment, but now that you said that I thought about why I liked her hair. That's the hair I wear in world. I think.

She reminded me of Stuart's Mom, Doreen, in MAD TV.

That did get a chuckle out of me.

About Chelsea Clinton: She may have had unfortunate looks as a child, but she's a stunning young woman today.

Watching her speech on YouTube....

So far at just over 10 minutes in, she's still wittering on about her family.

If I can stay awake through this tripe I'll tell you what I think of the complete thing.

I'm kinda reminded of these lines from "When the lies so big" by Frank Zappa

Quote:
With a big ol' lie
And a flag and a pie
And a mom and a bible
Most folks are just liable
To buy any line
Any place, any time

In the NY Times transcript she mentions that her son and nephew are both in the military, with the Track son (WTH?) soon to go to Iraq. The transcript then has her saying "USA! USA! USA! USA! USA!".

Did she actually chant that? Or was this the audience, or a funny joke slipped in by one of those liberal Times people? It seems more appropriate for a drunken American fan at the finals in Olympic basketball.

ETA: I no longer care as I can't read any more. Her trotting out every factoid of every person she's related to that makes them "special" is making me pukey.

It had to be the audience. They were jabbering something in their glazed eye, frothing mouth fury.

I hate conventions...can you tell?

It's of course all personal taste and opinion, but it's generally accepted "she ain't no looker"

Socialized medicine in your country allows for eyeglasses? I mean I know you'll wait 12 months, but once you actually see them for the new lense prescription, then look at Chelsea's photos, you'll notice she lacks certain aesthetic qualities that people consider attractive.

Doesn't make her bad , good, or anything...just saying.

Oh and she does look better now, not much more to say then that.

I watched the entire speech and I don't recall her chanting anything like that.

I will say this, however: Until she stepped on the stage, the GOP convention has been a snoozefest. She connected with her audience, spoke their language and delivered it with humor.

As far as being the same old dog-and-pony political BS, that's true of everyone who speaks at a political convention. Including the Dems we saw last week. Lots of sound and fury signifying nothing.

That was the audience Arilynn.

Reactions around the MSM and blogosphere:

Right wing social conservatives - "This is Reagan with ovaries!! The rapture is here!"

Right wing other - "This had better work and he'd better not die."

Independents - "She's at least presentable and formidable. But still, a heartbeat away?????"

Left wing other - "Be very, very afraid."

Left wing partisan - "Bitchy, schoolmarmish and without substance."

I didn't watch (speeches written by Rove proteges make me sad for America) but the images I've seen so far have been a little disturbing of the baby being passed around like a joint at high school kegger.

Actually I could go to Specsavers now, get a test, get glasses, pay for it then claim the money back.. it would be in my bank in a couple of weeks...

Palin's Church May Have Shaped Controversial Worldview

I never saw this source until today and they keep popping up on every search on Palin I do, so don't shoot me if they are hacks. It is still interesting.

The difference from what I am reading about her church, and Obamas, is Palin speaks her own views there it seems. She uses it as a Political Stage.

Some quotes that catch my eye.

Palin Says

Quote:
"Religion, however, was not strictly a thread in Palin's foreign policy. It was part of her energy proposals as well. Just prior to discussing Iraq, Alaska's governor asked the audience to pray for another matter -- a $30 billion national gas pipeline project that she wanted built in the state. "I think God's will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that," she said.
ANd how about this comment from her Pastor.

Quote:
During the 2004 election season, he praised President Bush's performance during a debate with Sen. John Kerry, then offered a not-so-subtle message about his personal candidate preferences. "I'm not going tell you who to vote for, but if you vote for this particular person, I question your salvation. I'm sorry." Kalnins added: "If every Christian will vote righteously, it would be a landslide every time."

Months after hinting at possible damnation for Kerry supporters, Kalnins bristled at the treatment President Bush was receiving over the federal government's handling of Hurricane Katrina. "I hate criticisms towards the President," he said, "because it's like criticisms towards the pastor -- it's almost like, it's not going to get you anywhere, you know, except for hell. That's what it'll get you."

Baby was in arms of father. Passed to daughter when Palin was about to mention his name. He stood, waved. People clapped. Palin called him "her guy". First Guy.

Daughter held baby rest of speach. After speech family comes out on stage. Mother, Palin, takes the baby and holds the baby.

Oh, and . . . wow that was a bad decision of McCain's to come out on stage. Next to all those young people (family, Palin) he looked 100, shaky, somewhat confused.

I did watch, and it wasn't like that at all. Her husband was holding Trig when she took the stage, but as she started introducing people he got his youngest daughter (who was completely adorable) to take him so he could stand up and wave as expected of him.

Alot of stuff was going on, and the baby had to be cared for. I thought they managed it just fine.

Her youngest girl, Piper, 5, cracked me up when she was the first of the kids to stand up and wave at the crowd with a big smile on her face. She's the one who smoothed Trig's hair back with her spit
