| Mental Health Hazard ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Not to get back on topic or anything... now that I've burned out my eyes with blunt hot pokers to erase the Nug... It's only sexist to say that children should come first if you're only applying it to women. In the case of Palin's pregnant daughter, I believe a good parent wouldn't have brought the weight of the national spotlight and party expectation onto what should have been some personal, private choices. Under national scrutiny and her mother's political expectations, I don't believe the daughter had any option other than marry the father (who sounds like a real loser btw). As for Palin's special needs child, I believe that any newborn should have one parent at home for at least the first year of their live if the parent's can swing it financially. |

My friend and I discussed this yesterday. I believe the daughter agreed her mother should take this opportunity. You can't make a teenager do anything they don't want to do and if she didn't want to be involved in this she wouldn't have been present last night. She could have played sick and stayed in Alaska with her Aunt, this is her choice to be involved. That being said, who can account for the media being so vicious to a teenager? She isn't Jamie Lynn Spears who had a TV show on Nickelodeon that millions of children watched (including my son) who all had to be informed she was knocked up. Who could predict such a media feeding frenzy over a young pregnant woman, who isn't harming anyone else? This young woman is making a brave choice in choosing to have her baby when she could take the easy (except for the emotional trauma) and less publicly shameful way out and have an abortion. I am sure they have cable in Alaska, she knew she had other options available. She doesn't have to get married, she doesn't have to continue her pregnancy. It is condescending, disingenuous, and an insult to the intelligence of this young woman to assume she felt she had no other choices. Was Bill Clinton wrong for running for office when Chelsea was so ugly as a child and everyone commented on it? You can't keep your child under a rock because the media are assholes. If people didn't tune in and buy this bullshit there would be no market for it, there is no one to blame for this bullshit but the American public that loves tabloid drama.

And just for the record... it's not heroic to have a kid, or not have a kid, or give a kid up for adoption, or keep the kid and not get married, or keep the kid and get married. It's just a decision that will impact your life, the kid, the Dad, etc. Not heroism. As for the rest, once you got off into your media rant, I tuned out... pretty much like I do when the media starts ranting.

My Mood: SL Join Date: 4/15/2006 | A HA!! I am now seeing everything fall into place and I can thank Veng for that! John McCain is old and white haired and said that his wife Cindy could enter the "Miss Buffalo Chip" beauty contest. Palin is an NRA member and is from Alaska...home of some of the biggest and wildest game in North America. Ted Nugent is an avid...ok...more then avid...hunter and is a bleeding heart republican. (Ted likes things to be bleeding) I submit to you ...the Great White Buffalo by Ted Nugent (ok....the Amboy Dukes, but still Ted Nugents band) who is the common thread in this republican party ticket It all makes sense now. |

"-ish"
| "What's the difference between a soccer mom and a pitbull? Lipstick." - S. Palin That did get a chuckle out of me. About Chelsea Clinton: She may have had unfortunate looks as a child, but she's a stunning young woman today.
