That article is further proof that there was just no vetting of this woman. John McCain's stance against earmarks has been a centerpiece of his campaign - yet his VP candidate is one of the people whoses earmarks made his list of earmark abuse multiple times.

If McCain decided to chose a VP based on their stance on earmarks he wouldn't be able to choose hardly anyone in public office. They are all for earmarks. McCain is the only person I can think of that is against them off hand and has a two decade record on to back it.

Do we need to make a list of all his possible VP candidates that this would apply to?

I thought about PM'ing Colette on this, but Lexxi was bothered as well, so I might as well do a little public post. Clear the air, yanno?

Here is a real challenge: engage with a correspondent that you don't know very well, after repeated attempts to clarify a point (as well as underline your belief that they are in error), and frame it in a way that shows you do this in as non-confrontational a manner as possible? I've written a number of posts directed at Colette and specifically just used her name, to make it a bit more personal. I've even mentioned that at first I had been misspelling it.

On that, you couldn't be further from the truth, as I DO put thought into my posts. And now for the wrap-up:

Colette, I don't know you at all, save for reading a number of your posts since you came to SLU in recent times. However, I've been posting here (and on other 3rd party forums) for nearly 2 years, and there are a lot of posts as a track record. Those who know me, know me as a person who goes out of his way to be courteous. This doesn't mean I quash my passions for certain subjects, or that I don't make an occasional gaffe, but one of the last things I could be reasonably hauled on the carpet for would be directing condescending and insulting behavior at others. That you leap to that conclusion is no different than my mistaking that my intention would be clear enough - IOW, we have both misread each other.

I'm not out to make enemies, and I'm not out to belittle or cast aspersions. I hope you'll take this to heart, as I'm being very honest about my intentions, but if you give it a *shrug* like some people do, I'll certainly know where you stand.
