Yes. It is more than 500 times the land area of Rhode Island, so that would make the governor of Alaska 500 times more fit to govern, based on experience per square mile.

OK, point taken and Russia and Japan. However, point me to where I can read about the Alaskan governor's involvement in negotiating international treaties?

Regarding gigantic Alaska, I always thought executive "exerience" had more to do with dealing with issues for people, not endless expanses of tundra.

I'm not sure if you're referencing my post, but I made a rant specifically naming Carville and Rove and being to blame for a lot of the reason I don't much like either party.

Now if all she said was she ran America's largest state - and not what you just said - why does that comparison matter?

I admit its silly to compare it to California which is the "Largest" State in population and economy.

People in this thread and that Huff post dealie were dismissing Alaska entirely based on its population - is her comment more crazy than that?

He maintained this deferment until December 14, 1971, despite being only a part-time student in the autumn and spring quarters of 1971 (registered for between six and 12 credit hours) and dropping out of the university in June 1971. Rove was a student at the University of Maryland, College Park in the fall of 1971; as such, he would have been eligible for 2-S status, but registrar's records show that he withdrew from classes during the first half of the semester. In December 1971 he was reclassified as 1-A. On April 27, 1972, he was reclassified as 1-H, or "not currently subject to processing for induction". The draft ended on June 30, 1973.

In the fall of 1970, Rove used a false identity to enter the campaign office of Democrat Alan J. Dixon, who was running for Treasurer of Illinois. He stole 1000 sheets of paper with campaign letterhead, printed fake campaign rally fliers promising "free beer, free food, girls and a good time for nothing", and distributed them at rock concerts and homeless shelters, with the effect of disrupting Dixon's rally. (Dixon eventually won the election). Rove's role would not become publicly known until August 1973. Rove told the Dallas Morning News in 1999, "It was a youthful prank at the age of 19 and I regret it."

Yeah i doubt she be much more than present during any sort of North Pole negotiations.

And as far as I know none of thats really even been gone over.

So really it could only be the fishing stuff I would guess.

Alaska would be a challenging state to Govern for several reasons ..

The resource based Industries are pretty important to the whole country. The fact all the industries are so spread apart. The difficulties with the Sunless winters, etc.

Would it compare to say running California? I wouldn't think so.

But It would definitely have as many challenges as a lot of states with much larger populations.
