I could be wrong, but I don't think this is going to happen.

Reasoning:

1) Smart blogs that I read have insider tips that McCain was leaning Lieberman middle of last week and was told point-blank by Dobson that if he puts a pro-choice VP on the ticket he can kiss the base goodbye. Palin was the only acceptable choice to the base, McCain had nothing to do with the pick - he did what he was told.

2) If McCain dumps Palin, he pisses off the base big time (yes, those same people who've donated 10 million dollars to him since the Palin announcement.)

3) The Palin pick has sent the Independents screaming in the other direction, even the ones who were leaning in McCain's direction.

4) All he has left is the base, and he can't win if they don't show up in Nov.

5) His only shot is to hold onto Palin and pray that enough evangelicals turn out bring him over the top. And/or pray that there is dirt on Obama, serious career killing dirt, somewhere.

So, I think she stays. All the other options are not acceptable to Dobson and his cronies and they are calling the shots.

So McCain saw a woman with shiny legs and a giant crab and he experienced premature nomination?

YouTube - John McCain's Wandering Eyes
Sorry, Mereille, but my brain has refused to take this thread seriously for many pages now so I have just skimmed most of it. I also usually don't even try YouTube videos. I'll look for you reply - it hurt my brain to try to find a synonym for "selection" that started with an "e" and ended with "ulation", and sadly I failed. I blame that cheap floozy McCain!!

ETA: Read your reply and saw it was just the vid, so I watched it. Anyone know where McCain's hands were when he hugged her? I need to know!!

Evidently me and Mireille are just behind the times. In the 90's soulmate was a way to say someone who you have a thing for that really understands you.

It was romantic and usually involved and and even

I guess they PC'd the heck out of it and applied it to Politics ... ruining an already overly sappy term.

Tell you what, Colette: when I look at my wife and tell her that she is my soulmate, she knows the difference. You'll just have to trust me on that.

Besides, I'm old enough to remember when gay just meant happy.

Or maybe the Republican use of male-male "soulmates" is just a bubbling up of repressed homosexual desires for each other.

I'm going with my explanation.

They are weird for using it that way, whether I had heard it or not.

I'm sorry, my dear - no, you are not. I should have just quoted your post, but indeed, it led me to the love of my life. I had thought about it before, but that clip is what sealed my fate.

I'm doomed. My soulmate is a national media star. We'll never be able to keep it private!

This was talked about while they were waiting for the VP pick to be announced. Anyone heard Scarborough talking about it afterwards?

OMGWTF I can't freakin keep up with the scandal.

Now: One of the Palin's businesses that they were are partner in was closed by the state while she was governor for refusing to comply with state laws, according to the Washington Post.

Quote:
Palin Scrubbing Turns Up a Car Wash

By Matthew Mosk
ST. PAUL -- In addition to being a mayor and raising four children, Sarah Palin found time for another venture in her Wasilla years -- she was part-owner of an Anchorage car wash.

Palin and husband Todd each held a 20 percent stake in Anchorage Car Wash LLC, according to state corporation records filed in 2004.

The venture was not entirely smooth sailing, though. State records show the business ran into trouble with Alaska's division of corporations business and professional licensing after Palin became governor of the state in 2006.

A Feb. 11, 2007 letter to the governor's business partner advises that the car wash had "not filed its biennial report and/or paid its biennial fees," which were more than a year overdue.

The warning letter was written on state letterhead, which carried Palin's name at the top, next to the state seal.

No. I'm rather disappointed, actually, that this three-ring circus upstaged the post-convention bounce.

But a three-ring circus it is.

ST. PAUL -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee who revealed Monday that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant, earlier this year used her line-item veto to slash funding for a state program benefiting teen mothers in need of a place to live.
I really don't want to pile on the pregnant thing. But wow...just wow.
