I'm not happy for her daughter--I feel really sorry for her daughter, mainly because of who she has to put up with for a mom, and I feel sorry for the kid-to-be as well unless the child is given up for adoption where it could have a chance of growing up in a family that isn't completely fucked up. The daughter will probably not have a chance to raise the child herself nor will she probably be prepared to raise a child.

But sorry, even when looking at her daughter's situation, I still laugh--I laugh when I see SO many of the people who are trying to push that whole "holiness" crap end up seeing reality slap them in the face (usually republicans) in an almost brutal manner in the public eye. It's enough to make just about anyone happy, except for those who peddle that holiness crap and those that desperately want McCain to win.

It's like watching Brainy Smurf get tossed on his head after bragging for several minutes.

Obama's mother was 18 when she had Barack.

YouTube - Tucker Bounds on Palin's National Security Experience
I'm not laughing at that. I'm laughing because Sarah Palin has had a slice of reality slapped in her face and because McCain now has a huge wrench thrown in his campaign.

I already said I feel sorry for the daughter. I was saying that despite how terrible the situation is for her daughter, I need to laugh at the irony of Sarah's speeches and McCain's campaign.

Mrs. Palin apparently acquired much of her 'executive' experience here:

You can't really lump all fundamentalist into one camp in this country on any issue.

There are evangelicals who don't believe in contraception regardless of marital status. If you want to feel slightly ill, I suggest checking these folks out. QuiverFull.

Nope. But when a major talking point is how she has more 'executive' experience than Obama, the quality of that experience certainly comes into play.

I suppose it's too much to ask that she had read the books first before trying to ban them.

Starting with "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich".

I wish this was true, but my guess is that it will cement support among the evangelical right who will view this as hard evidence of Palin's pro-life stance.

With all of teh dramaz surrounding the other candidates, boring can be good.

Looking at Biden's personal history, he seems like a level headed, steadfast, sturdy, dependable man.

Quote:
His wife and infant daughter died in a car accident shortly after he was first elected to the Senate in 1972. His two sons, Beau and Hunter, were seriously injured in the accident, but both eventually made full recoveries. Biden was sworn into office from their bedside. Persuaded not to resign in order to care for them, Biden began the practice of commuting an hour and a half each day on the train from his home in the Wilmington suburbs to Washington, D.C., which he continues to do.
Quote:
[Biden] has a net worth between $59,000 and $366,000, not much for the millionaire's club known as the Senate.

"He's still one of the poorest members of the Senate," said Anita Dunn, a senior advisor to Obama's campaign. "He came to Washington to do good, not to do well for himself."
I'll take *that* kind of boring any day. Hell, if Jill doesn't want him, send him my way.

My bad... I thought he hadn't remarried. You can see how much I keep up with his personal life.

Maybe Colette could send her a note and ask about the boring thing.

And his wife is an educator. But not some high-fallutin' Ivy League professor.

Quote:
Since 1993, Biden has been a professor of English at the Stanton/Wilmington campus of Delaware Technical & Community College. There she teaches English composition, with an emphasis towards instilling confidence in students.
Community College. That's a far cry from Mrs. I-own-7-houses. Heck, *I've* taught courses at a community college before!

He rides the 1st class luxury train called the "Acela".

It costs him about $1,000 a month.

I wouldn't call a 90 minute train ride in relative luxury each way a huge sacrifice. He probably gets ripped on scotch on his ride home as they have an excellent bar-car.

Uh huh, we would have wondered why a town of only 9,000 with a figurehead mayor position would have a grandiose city hall.

How much would he spend on a car, between gasoline and insurance, for the same commute?
