If "millions" of voter's judgements is the yardstick for VP, then why isn't Hillary the Democrats VP candidate?

We are not going anywhere. I'm not comparing Obama to Palin, just pointing out that it removes McCains main tactic up to this point from play. His campaign must have known it wasn't working and decided to shift gears. I think it will backfire.

Let's say for the sake of argument, McCain pushes daisies after a year in office.

You don't think someone who has been a Governor for 2 years, can't step in and be President with an entire cabinet and support team already in place?

Considering the duties of the VP are largely set by the President, I think she is asking a rather good question.

There have been some VP posts that have been important, and there have been some that have been largely ceremonial.

So obviously she's not a student of modern administrations. She's unaware of what Cheney brought to the position? Gore? The most casual observer of the VP on the last 20 years - hell, any of of us on this board - has a pretty good indication of what the job entails.

If you look at it that it boils to down to why the VP was brought to the ticket - window dressing? Cynical opponent out-manuvering? If solely for those superficial political reasons, then obviously the post will reflect the inhabitant.

I actually don't have a problem with someone changing their mind or withdrawing their support. I do have a problem with the spin that Palin was a champion against the bridge, who told Congress "thanks but no thanks", when in fact she did support the project until it became politically toxic to continue to do so and the money dried up.
