I'm hesitant to post this, because I know none of you really care

But I admit it is something I take pride in. These are the men from my church. I take pride in the fact that we are so mixed with different backrounds and the sense of brotherly love there. While I disagree with Mero that there would be so much hostility towards me in black churches, I do admit most people do join congregations of their own kind.

This picture is a little old (early 2007), the group has grown since. This was during a retreat I helped organize for men focused on strengthening marriages.

Also before I lost so much weight last year. Damn I was a fat shit.

The battle is fought against ME when I don't appreciate an attractive black woman who walks by but I stare at the blonde instead. It's fought against me with every stare I attract in public because the wrong color woman is on my arm. It's fought against me when my day care provider tells my quadroon that she's black, repeatedly.

What side do I choose, other than "Judging someone based on their skin color is wrong." That is the truth and I'm on that side. Why would I fight against whitey when blackey is just as racist?

The day care provider sounds like a marvelous opportunity to talk about race identity and moving beyond black/white thinking. If you could change that mind, it would have a cascade effect for every young mind that came within their care.

If you can't make a change, there is always economic pressure by removing your business... but if you don't clearly address why, with an understanding of how to reach that person, then they will just blow you off as "passing" and buying into the "white world" because you're still making a primary mistake.

It's not about skin color. (I know maybe 4 black folks, and they're from Nigeria.. the rest are all shades of brown) (For that matter most of the "white" folks I know aren't)

It's about culture and power.

And yeah Mero, I'm judging you by a higher standard because you do have a foot in both cultures. You can view yourself as rejected by both, or you can view yourself as intrinsicly part of both, with an investment in bringing them together.

Your daughter and I would probably have more in common in terms of personal investment in ending prejudice. You say she can 'pass' as a white woman - the dominant culture. Well I can pass as a heterosexual woman.

Doesn't make me any less of a bisexual... with a foot in both cultures and an investment in bringing them together.

Why should either of us have to 'pass'

The definition of a barbarian is someone who cares for no one but their people.... you and your family, but your own statement.

The idea that judging someone by their race (tribe) isn't valid is fairly new you realize. The idea that it's morally wrong is even more recent. This "stupidity" that you keep talking about is not the natural understanding that you seem to think it is.

You were acculturated to believe that it's wrong.
