Self-righteous is fine for me. I'm not a sociologist, remember? I don't need to fix the world, I just need to point out whose shit stinks and leave it to them to fix it or not.

I have no such need or desire. Bad dog! is accurate and all that an individual needs to exhibit moral behavior.

I think the clear difference is that while she's attempting to get to root causes and understand in an effort to correct the behavior, I'm fine with just pointing and laughing at it for what it is.

Different goals, same conclusions (sorta).

I can understand how this could be a hot button issue for you, if I am correct in remembering that you're bi-racial and your wife is white. Getting it from both ends. Sort of like being a bi-sexual, except wearing it on your face.

Why aren't you interested in changing the world? You have kids right? Kids who will have to deal with an unchanged world.

Attitudes towards racism have changed dramatically within my lifetime. The attitudes that my parents grew up with as the norm, are lunatic fringe now.

It wasn't people sitting back and going "I'm better than you are... you're just bad" that changed those attitudes. It was a lot of hard personal work within both communities and most importantly between both communities. People who built bridges based on the willingness to understand and trust.

And in the process, a lot of people came to realize that black/white, us/them thinking was much more fundamentally entrenched in the human psyche. In fact, you're displaying it right now, in this thread.

Interesting statement. To me it reads as, to be moral all one needs to do is condemn what they feel is immoral. Is that what you meant? Does morality also require some action? If so, in what way?

I can't believe you guys are wasting your fingers arguing about church! And racism in churches? LOL

Everyone is welcome at Brunch! Mimosas flow. It is almost football season. What the hell are the Packers doing with Favre? Why did they send him to the Jets? The Bears or the Vikings would have taken him. Sure he is old and broke down, but still he is better than nothing.

Because as a Jet he doesn't go to Green Bay. Brett Favre has embarrassed himself quite enough and now that he's on a shit team he's crapped all over his legacy.

I like to keep my sundays segregated during football season

First I work out, then I eat breakfast, read the paper, and then watch football. take a slight nap, lunch, football, dinner, interwebz.

I don't like mixing them up.

I'd say that the action portion comes when something is directly in your way to handle and that it doesn't require going out of your way to fight battles. It's saying "When I judge someone based on their appearances, I'm being a fucktard and I need to not be a fucktard" and then applying that in your own life. As you go, you may choose to serve some higher calling such as building the bridges Surreal mentions, however; that is not required to be moral.

I'm bored and Mero is helping me avoid taping up my dining room wall for a priming session.

I'll take a mimosa, but football

Sort of a laissez-faire morality. As you've expanded it, I don't necessarily disagree, although with some thought I might further qualify it.

* I do think there are times when going out of your way is required.

Or, you can recognize how the courage, hard work, and suffering of those who built the bridges personally benefited you and feel a moral imperative to pick up your part of the load going forward so that your children can enjoy the same improvements - or even more importantly, not lose the progress already made.

Or you can be lazy and self-centered.

I make coffee, read the paper, meet the press, brunch, football, nap, dinner, football, WoW. I surf the internet all day everyday on my phone. Skyfire is da bomb.

I do change that schedule a little depending on what time the Bears are playing and if I have tickets.

I like to keep my Sundays routine for comfort.

Why has NOBODY in Chicago made Grossman go away yet?

In the socialist utopia Richie spanks to every night brunch is a sign of the rich and therefore unacceptable.

He's all we got. I dunno why we have this QB curse but it needs to stop. We aren't like the Cubs with a pissed off goat. The Bears are cheap though, that is an issue.

My Mood:

Get your football out of my dramha!!

Got up when work called at 5:45
Logged into work, put out fire
Contemplated swimming to Sweden and beating co-workers to death
Went back to bed
Logged back into work, and everywhere else
Got out back hoe and cleaned kitchen
Made plum cobbler
Recleaned kitchen
Now doing laundry, watching for work stupidity and contemplating mopping the kitchen floor

It doesn't get any more exciting than this today.
