Sacha Baron Cohen - Who Is America - W-T-F?

Going to leave this here without commentary because I simply don't know what to say. Can barely breathe at the moment, really. Please tell me this is scripted and fake.

So I saw something recently where Sarah Palin and others were upset and suing because they were deceived into showing up and doing interviews for this show and it made them look bad.

Something to that effect.

Yes, let's talk about Cohen's comedic abilities instead - so much more important.

I honestly can't stand Sacha Cohen, but I think it's funny that he made these people angry.

I find his humor tedious and painful... but I'm all for him using it to expose hypocrites and lunatics in power.

Uh I watched the full episode and let me just say "Holy shiiiiiit" at the entire gun episode. That thing up there? That's the most reasonable clip.

EDIT: A lot of republican senators are going to be posting false retractions because holy shit did a lot of people say a lot of really dumb things in front of a camera.

Sorry to say so, but politics in the US seem to be even worse than I imagined so far.
And we are worried about Wilders in the Netherlands. He is a true gentleman and a nice guy compared tot those creatures shown in this show.

It`s real and how his "victims" react to his antics speaks volumes about who they truly are, their intelligence and core beliefs....he usually pushes as far as his guests allow him..
Saying he deceived someone is a bit of a stretch, I could not be deceived into supporting guns for toddlers (or at all), signing a "waterboarding kit" or organizing a stake party for "bad hombres", could you?

Most see what he does as entertainment or even comedy, but if you think about it, a number of ppl featured in this series are occupying prominent positions in US government and are involved in decisions making which affects millions...

The only person I felt sorry for (so far) was the arts dealer lady, she was genuinely trying to "understand his art"...

I think a lot of people understandably assume that European conservatives and American republicans are more similar than they are. They are both xenophobic and don't like paying taxes, but We really do have a whole different type of crazy here. I don't think many European conservatives want to let people die without healthcare or give guns to kids.

Yeah, I came to understand that over the last few years talking to friends in the EU. The type and level of crazy just does not seem the same when you sit down and really start comparing. I might be missing something in the exchanges of course, but the EU equivalents would not be smiling during filmed "Sign my torture kit" moments, or participating in 'guns for toddlers' sing along promotions.

I can't read the Onion anymore, because nothing they come up with satire wise holds a candle to the unbelievable things actually happening.

Can't say I'm a huge fan of Baron Cohen's style of humour, but I really admire how he is using his talents for good. He's bringing some dangerous scum up to the surface so we can all see it. His targets aren't being led into anything that they don't already believe in their hearts, but they are being encouraged to show their true faces.

It's hard to believe that there are people stupid enough to take his bait. Perhaps that's what fanaticism can do- make a person so eager to share their (misguided) passion if they feel it's safe that their guard comes down?

I look forward to seeing more of his show, and I hope it will be available outside the US.

Agreed - these racists, gun nuts, etc are being trolled by a master.

The level of self awareness generated by these episodes may well vary, since those who bend over backwards to excuse racist, pedo and abusive politicos often do so because they claim to be christians, like themselves.

No such pass is given to others for their perceived crimes of speaking a foreign language in a public space or barbecuing, eating or sleeping while black.

Rump, who once said he could shoot a person on Fifth Avenue and not loose any voters, has given these morons a free pass to bypass self control as he does.

It depends on *which* Republicans we're talking about. Republicans used to be rational people who supported big business and big banking. Crazy people have taken control of the party, but rational, pro-business traditional Republicans still exist; they have less power and make fewer headlines (less polarizing polemic so therefor less press coverage) than the craziness but they still exist. The Republican party in my state is still controlled by fairly reasonable traditional conservatives and they try to distance themselves from the ultra right but they are in a precarious political position making it difficult to survive as a normal conservative in the current political climate.

That comment section is unbelievable. There are multiple people claiming that it is the Dems that are insanely racist. They don't seem to have any knowledge whatsoever about Nixon's Southern Strategy or any other history for that matter, nor any idea about current day parties. Her article is beyond their ken.
