Nowdays, I'll give you. But thier restaurants actually used to be more house-like;

No beds, but more than once I passed out there either from booze or from being up for 4 days on coffee ...so, close enough? (at least for me )

Ok I have to ask, why in the hell are you annoyed over something so trivial? It's a marketing campaign. It's not that serious.

The fun part is all the shade other restaurants and companies have been throwing at the iHop Twitter account all day.

It's annoying because it's yet another stupid, lame corporate PR stunt -having lived through fifty years of them my tolerence for corporate stupidity (in all forms) is pretty much nil at this point.

You should bear in mind that annoyed can mean anything from rollings my eyes all the way to obsessiveness, and all points in-between.

This annoyance is a roll-my-eyes-and-SMDH level; but it's still there.

It's dumb; dumb is annoying.

See, it's just fun. It's difficult to stand out in a crowded space as an old brand, and millennials especially have stopped eating out at restaurants, so sales are down. They have to find some way to drive some hype.

Kinda hard to eat out when you have no money to do so, those darn millennials are just so vexing to these companies.

Maybe the market is oversaturated with restaurants that all serve roughly the same stuff??? and burgers being the #1 thing that everyplace everywhere does?

These places come and go. They start off with high quality, which draws in consumers, then some number cruncher gets their hands on it, and well...buy-bye quality.
Oh the food quality was good or I wouldn't have eaten there so often.

What you do not do, in a restaurant, is substitute freakin bologna for prime rib! If you run out, fine, just be honest about it, offer a decent substitute. Or don't offer a substitute. Just don't substitute with fucking bologna. I could have stayed home and had bologna sandwiches a hell of a lot cheaper.

I hope the millennials see through their crap and continue to stay away.

IHOP becomes IHOb, with 'b' for burgers
We eat at IHoP* quite a bit. The menu change is a good thing as they have needed to add more than just breakfast type stuff.

They didn't go and replace all the lighted signs did they? Only to replace them again to change it back? So they can jack the prices up to pay for all the new signs? I hope not. Places I can eat out are getting farther and fewer between.

Yeah I don't get the extremely negative reaction by some people either. Okay so I haven't been to an iHOP since I lived in Ohio so maybe I just don't care enough; but even so. "It's a dumb marketing stunt" sure...but it's not the first dumb marketing stunt ever carried out, and it certainly won't be the last; in the vast sea of silly promotions it isn't even all that stand-outy, to be perfectly honest.

I mean Denny's once did a whole campaign of TV commercials whose punchline was a customer who kept accidentally calling it "Lenny's" and needing to be corrected. I don't remember anybody caring so hard about that. Sonic has had the same "dumb" character in its commercials for like the last ten years, it's waaaay tired. But nobody is bothered by it.

Also: Most millennial realized restaurant food tends to tastes the same as microwaved stuff from Walmart only it costs much more and they ask you to tip.

I haven’t been to ihop since I was like maybe 18 and we stopped there to get breakfast after a party after the Frank Zappa concert....

I don’t much care for pancakes. And waffles can kiss mai ass.

Gimmie eggs lotsa and lotsa eggs !

These days I prefer small local places that don’t use frozen eggs and bacon , like this place here...

10-15(including tip) bucks for a meal or buy the stuff I need to cook it myself and have enough for 2-4 meals rather than one.

Restaurants do best when everyone is doing good financially, these restaurants doing goofy shit like this overlooks what is actually the problem, people just don't have enough disposable income to justify eating out like people once did. Maybe they should try providing something I can't get or do myself.

Everything is extra homoginized lately too. Which is really annoying.

I used to be able to get a Turkey Burger from Burger King, for example.

And McDonalds used to have some fancy burgers but now its just big macs and quarter pounders and boring chicken sandwiches.

Then therr is "upscale" fast foods. I went to a Penn Station subs for the first time the other day. Place was deserted and it was good but I paid $10 for an 8" sub and a soda. Or Chipotle, which I love and ate almost daily when I was traveling for work and eating on the company dime, but its too damb expensive when I am footing the bill myself.

You liked Chipotle, eh? I went there all of one time. I got a burrito of some sort and remember thinking, this is all rice, with a touch of other things. I also remember thinking...I can go home and make something much better at a fraction of the cost.

I have the benefit of having a sister who married a Mexican and was taught their ways of cooking. She has shared some with me. Her husband on the state of American so-called Mexican or latino food chains is something to behold. He can go on and on about that particular subject. But then, this is a guy, who when younger, who could come home at any hour of the night, wake up his sisters or mother, demand fresh tortillas and they would do it. Pfft.

Well, when I am.not paying for it, its pretty good. And I kind of prefer the bowls, where its basocally a burrito without the shell. Sort of a little taco salad.

The problem is yeah, you can make it yourself for a lot less.

If chain restaurants were all that were around maybe I'd go to them but local restaurants are much better (at least the good ones are).

Food trucks can be an amazing thing, as well, if you live in a major city, if one is looking for a great tasting meal on a lunch break.

Of course, not so sure about food safety and the like. But darn if the taste buds don't appreciate it.

I went to food trucks all the time when I lived in Portland. There aren't any around here.

Yeah, the food safety thing has always made me wary of food trucks, aka "roach coaches". But, yeah, they are so tasty!

I say, Checker/Rally's has very good hamburgers. Their fries are okay, but they're also different from almost everybody else's fries which is a good thing.

Wendy's has decent limited-time hamburgers sometimes, which is too bad because I won't eat there anymore.
