So?

Then maybe "Fox News" needs to rename itself.

They are all out to make money. All of them. NBC, CBS, FOX, CNN, and the rest. They don't report news any more, they tell stories. Fox isn't any better then the rest, they only tend to slant their commentary in a different direction.

Fox is the turd in the toilet. The rest are just the toilets.

A number of sources. Plus, there is actually debate and counter stories here, as apposed to being spoon fed what to think.

We're not talking about NBC, CBS or CNN.

Why when someone criticizes Fox and what they do, does that argument repeatedly come up?

We're not talking about the rest of them.

And at any rate, you show me where CNN has commentators being racist and moronic on top of misrepresenting facts in their "news" reports and you might have a point -- for another thread.

CNN being shit to you doesn't validate Fox being shit all around.

But I am saying that there shit is no different from the rest of the shit that is out there, just slanted differently.

I don't care enough to do the google search.

I prefer to get my news from sources geared towards the financial community. Those people take a dim view of spin and BS opinion that can affect the bottom line. Which, BTW, is the reason for the abysmal performance of the Fox Finance network.

I never said it does. It just isn't different then the rest.

But you hate Fox, where I hate them all. We will just have to disagree here.

I see this a lot. Fox probably has more commentary than CNN or MSNBC - but the fact that people like Sean Hannity or Bill O'Reilly have regular shows on Fox seems to bring out the polemicists who think the whole network is a cesspool of rightwingers.

Some years ago, someone did a detailed analysis of the different news outlets to decide whether there really was a leftwing bias in the news overall. What they found was that Fox isn't necessarily "rightwing", but some of the other major networks were far enough to the left of Fox it made them LOOK more rightwing than they really were. In other words, it's a relative perception.

I don't have a problem with Fox, but then I don't generally watch it - what I have seen is that they're either the same level of shallow eye candy as USA Today or they're showcasing Sean Hannity's idiotic pablum and posing opinionless Alan Colmes next to him as "balance". lulz.

As for news, they report it like everyone else. Then they show 8 hours of commentary and opinion and everybody gets confused.

So you're accepting without question MoveOn's version of things, without actually seeing the clips.

I see.

Oy.

A number of sources, yes. Such as? TV, newspapers, magazines... but because they're copypasta'd into a forum they incur an air of legitimacy somehow? Hooookay.

Pfft, spoon feeding you what to think. "It's all about meeeee!"

It certainly doesn't make it acceptable. It doesn't make any of it acceptable.

I just know I for one wanted to put in a word to say how absurd CBS, ABC, NBC, Fox and the CW are for reading off of the same @$%^%$@& pages in the same $%^@& order. I don't know if it's just the "local news" they're spewing endlessly in a circle that is subject to this ridiculous repetition, but that alone discredits the "news" in my mind enough that I'll boycott anything except Jim Lehrer, that is, if I cared to watch him. *Puts on a movie*

Actually we could talk about all the other stations because they are equally as biased and the report "news" in an equally inflammatory manner. The only thing is generally they do it against white males so no one complains.

Do we have enough time to point out all the comments and mistruths told about people in the Bush administration over the years? We could really just dedicate a thread to all the racist comments made about Colin Powell and Condolezza Rice over the years. What about Clarance Thomas?

It is a nasty double standard and I really don't understand why Obama gets put on a pedestal and is supposed to be treated with kid gloves all the time.

It's your assumption that I haven't looked at your clips. With no basis to make.

Nevertheless, I don't need to see your clips to not care because MoveOn is not a news institution.

I'm also well versed on my own with Fox's appalling tactics before this thread and MoveOn's petition.

That is totally not what I was saying. Having multiple news sources means that some editor somewhere isn't deciding what is the news I need to know. Plus here, people don't let bull stories last very long.

I love Bill O'Reilly's characterization of mediamatters as a "smear" site. When all they do is post verbatim transcripts of his show....

If you say so. But the whole "spoon feeding me what to think" line is ridiculous. I assure you, we're up to our eyeballs in trying to survive and we don't really have much time left over for "how shall we try to brainwash Dnate today." The bias, whatever there is of one, is what will get people to watch or subscribe.

Josh: they're not "my" clips. They were offered by Cris.

Let's not ignore that some of Cris' links aren't exactly paragons of impartiality, either. I imagine one can take almost any public newscast and find faux pas like the one they're whining about.

LA Times. Second only to NY Times in whacko leftism.

"Foxattacks.com" - no agenda here.

"Media Matters":
Quote:
Media Matters' founder and CEO is David Brock. A reporter for the conservative magazine The American Spectator in the 1990s, Brock (in the aftermath of his biography of Hillary Clinton that brought disastrous reviews) engaged in a public self-denunciation, characterizing all his past writings critical of liberal figures as a confection of lies and slanders. In Brock's present judgment, the mainstream media have fallen under the sway of conservative ideology. He believes that conservatives have moved the mainstream media "to the right and therefore they've moved American politics to the right. … I wanted to create an institution [Media Matters] to combat what they're doing."

Standing behind Brock was John Podesta, a former chief of staff in the Clinton administration and the head of the "progressive" Washington, DC think tank, the Center for American Progress.
Yeh. I'm totally believing whatever these clowns put out there.
