It wouldn't have mattered. Arizona never even had the chance to use what they had.

I suppose I hoped it'd remind you of at least one good and obvious reason for the criticism. The fact that it apparently did not succeed is almost as baffling as your other comment.

Oh if the US is out to kill civilians, the foes of the USA will have no problem killing American civilians. Have you ever served a day in the military? No your parents and grandparents do not count. I am trying to understand your barbaric thinking.
My parents and grandparents don't matter? Let me tell you a bit about my grandparents and my family.

Does that look familiar to you? That is Iwo Jima, my grandfather was there on that very day. He was wounded during the battle and after being wounded he was put on a ship to be transported to a hospital and had the ship blown out from under him. He recovered and went BACK into the war. When you ask him why he would tell you that he did not want to force some young kid to take his place. He received a purple heart, a bronze star and a silver star.

See that picture. That is the Ardennes Forest where the US was thrust into the largest battle of WWII, the Battle of the Bulge. My uncle Donald was there. He came home with six bullet wounds in his body and had to use a walker or a cane for the rest of his life. His brother Paul never came home at all. Unlike you, they never bragged our boasted about serving carrying a weapon. They never used their "experience" as some way to claim some superior knowledge in a debate. They never talked about it other than to say, they did their job and came home. I learned from them that people who brag about their service, really did not do that much.

I have my grandfather's medals and the flag from my father's coffin in my hope chest. Just because I never wore a uniform does not mean I have not seen first hand the devastation of war and what it does to the human body and mind. Your uniform means absolutely nothing to me.

For the record, I also have three distant relatives who fought in the Revolutionary War. So you see, I come from a long, long line of "barbarians". All I can say to you Ranma and your type is, "You are fucking welcome." They were the true warriors and the true peacekeepers. You were nothing but a placeholder who can't get your story straight.

When was the last time you looked at a map? North Korea HAS a deterrent force more powerful than any nuclear weapon. It is just to the north and it is called China. Our leader is an idiot. The leader of North Korea is a madman. That is a very small, but important difference. Kim's own allies say he should not be allowed to possess nuclear weapons. Do you think his first priority is going to use them to deter the US? His intentions as stated are much closer to his home.

It is ironic that people are arguing against the US using atomic weapons against Japan as an argument in favor of allowing North Korea to possess atomic weapons. You know who REALLy does not want North Korea to have nuclear weapons? I will give you a hint: They have had two dropped on them already and are predicted to be among his first targets.

Enlighten me. In my ignorance, what information do I have wrong? The image you showed was not simply a criticism of the USA for using atomic weapons. It is an image from the Hiroshima Peace Museum to show the devastation of that action, created in hopes that NO COUNTRY OR ENTITY would ever want to use them again. A message which I totally agree with 100%. Don't confuse my understanding history and understanding clearly why an atomic bomb(s) was used at that moment in time as an endorsement of the use of nuclear weapons today.

I come from New England. The first time I saw iced tea on a menu down here I ordered it and had to immediately spit it out. I do not even *WANT* to know what they do to hot tea.

Side note: I practically live on Indian food so I immediately ordered okra when I saw it on a menu. Then I bit into it and regretted that decision.

Yeah, people don't learn from history.. Don't piss off the US. What would you have done differently? Just rolled over and let Japan get away with bombing one of our naval ports? Just rolled over and let Al-Queda get away with the first ever attack on US soil? Do ya think Timothy McVeigh should have been not charged? Yes, it would be nice if the world was at peace, but it isnt. The Way of the Leaf isn't for everyone. Some people have to fight back.

I reject your reasoning and the countless wars of the USA. If a foul action is correct for the USA it is also correct for the foes of the USA.
The Second General Army and Chūgoku Regional Army were headquartered in Hiroshima, and the Army Marine Headquarters was located at Ujina port. The city also had large depots of military supplies, and was a key center for shipping.

at the time of the nuclear attack, Nagasaki was an important industrial city, containing both plants of the Mitsubishi Steel and Arms Works, the Akunoura Engine Works, Mitsubishi Arms Plant, Mitsubishi Electric Shipyards, Mitsubishi Steel and Arms Works, Mitsubishi-Urakami Ordnance Works, several other small factories, and most of the ports storage and trans-shipment facilities.

So the Japanese army was headquarted at Hiroshima and Nagasaki produced 90% of all military vehicles, weapons and ships.. So, we attacked military targets in response to Japan attacking one of ours.. They killed civilians as well.. Don't blame us because they didn't use as much firepower as we did.

It was an image that also put me in mind of an old friend of my father, and his descriptions of life (and death) when enslaved by the Japanese to build the Burma Death Railway in the 1940's. More people died (mostly civilians) building that railway than were killed by either atomic bomb.

So who's alt are you? Nagasaki was centered on the Catholic Cathedral and not a military base. The people killed there included some of my relatives and almost wiped out the mother church in Japan.

As for the "don't blame us", you and the other trump supporters think alike. A complete lack of compassion and empathy. I am sure there are people looking at the USA and wondering how many US cities have to be destroyed to bring the peace.

I knew you would bring your grandparents into it sooner or latter! If you live on your ancestors lets see about mine. My father flew B-17s in Europe, the casualty rate was so high 25 missions was considered a death sentence. My Uncle was in the Merchant Marine bring supplies to the UK. My grandfather and great grandfather served in WWI as cavalry. My grandfather was wounded by poison gas. My ancestors served to keep our nation united, fight off the British. Yet these are my ancestors not me. Their success is not mine.

You try to insult me by calling me a "placeholder." What the fuck have you done for our country? I served in both the Air Force and Army and while my career was lackluster at best, I served with honor. I served in a war that should not have happened.

Now das trump wants to add new wars. He wants to attack North Korea, Syria, Iran and expand the war in Africa. You support more American wars?

The US made lots of mistakes and the US Navy was not unable to defend itself. Now lets picture the warnings of the USS Ward and even the warning of the radar would of be heeded. The US aircraft in their redoubts. Things would of been different. Our airmen, sailors and soldiers fought bravely against incredible odds. They were able to shoot down an impressive number of Japanese aircraft an sink Japanese midget submarines.

You are right about Japan attacking the USA but I think there is more to the story. Though if Japan did not attack, the US would of remained neutral. The war with Nazi Germany would of been delayed. The Nazis might have won the war.
