There's kind of a big difference between saying you love your partner, and saying you love a couple of non-unique looks or traits....

His wife has no problem with what he said, so I'd be hardpressed to be offended on her behalf.

Dont worry, I am sure everyone will find something else to be offended about soon enough.

Who said an education in feminism is required before you can say you love your wife? It certainly wasn't any one in this thread.

So he loves and is attracted to his wife. Good for him, seriously.

The thing is, millions and millions of guys who love and are attracted to their wives don't think they're superheroes for it and don't go online to self-congratulate. He is using his wife's physique to make the internet like him.

Those were HIS words. He directed his public post to other men about how he had educated HIMSELF on feminism.

If he had wanted to simply publicly express his love for his wife, than all he had to do is say, ''Look at my beautiful wife - I love her so - I'm a lucky man''.

HE has turned this about feminism and educating others.

He isn't misogynistic, just probably not in any position to educate others on feminism. But of course, if he does want to take on educating others on feminism, maybe he could start by not objectifying a woman, piece by piece, however nicely it was intended.

And you know what's another thing, I'm looking over the picture - she's hot. She could be a plus-size model. He's kinda ordinary. Not ugly, but not in anyway someone you'd imagine as model material, yet he's come to the realisation that even though she wouldn't be thought as a Cosmo covergirl, that even though she fills out her jeans, she's still beautiful to him (I,m paraphrasing).

I don't care how his wife feels about the post since it wasn't addressed to her but to ''guys'' and ''girls'':

Quote:
Girls, don't ever fool yourself by thinking you have to fit a certain mold to be loved and appreciated. There is a guy out there who is going to celebrate you for exactly who you are, someone who will love you like I love my Sarah.
Anyhow, okay, I'll stop posting now.

Spouses often tell each other the physical characteristics that turn each other on. This guy was airing a public account of what turns him on about his wife.

Did he word things perfectly? Eh, probably not. Especially considering all the vitriol he's getting for the letter.

I still say he was well intended, but maybe, just maybe, didn't quite word things in a very constructive way when it comes to public internet things.

As I mentioned before, every single one of us has a physical attraction to a certain type of person, be they slim, Reubenesque, blonde, brunette, big butt, little butt, pretty feet, pert noses, large eyes, whatever. This guy ended up talking about his curvy wife. Maybe he should have left off the bit where he says he educated himself on feminism, but the rest of the letter seemed fairly innocuous.

Well, and maybe not say that thin women aren't real women.... which while I'm 'curvy', its no better to skinny shame than it is to fat shame.

Speaking from experience (and as someone who was raised in mixed conservative/progressive household) 'educating myself on feminism' was not an overnight thing.

So, kudos for him for making the effort... and I can't really blame him for realizing he's made progress, and wanting to celebrate it. Even if it was kind of a brutal lightning rod for people pointing out how much more there is to it than he's embraced so far. Hopefully he'll keep educating himself and growing as a person.

Dammit, I'm back in this thread again because I thought it was a new parody thread titled "Man heroically tells people he likes his ''curry'' wife"

I need a larger phone off glasses. Probably both.

I probably got closer to actually saying you have to be a feminist before you can say you love your wife. Depending on which definition of "wife" is being used.. traditional/subordinate/property-person, or more modern partner/equal/companion.
